LEWISTON — Geraldine (Meahl) Woock, of Niagara Falls, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was 83.
She was born in Niagara Falls on July 19, 1927, a daughter of the late Jacob and Henrietta (Schneider) Meahl. She attended local schools and married Stanley R. Woock in 1948.
Mrs. Woock worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education as a lunch aide at 66th Street School for over 30 years. She enjoyed bingo and spending time with her family, including her eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Woock is survived by three children, Gary L. (Beth) Woock of Lockport, John A. (late Elaine) Woock of Youngstown, and Mary Woock of Niagara Falls, and was the mother of the late Robert S. Woock (2008); and was predeceased by her husband in 1995. She is also survived by three sisters, Flora (Dave) Walsh, Isla Nicometi and Betty Weiss; eight grandchildren, Stacey, Kimberley, Timothy, Jeanette, Amy, James, Jason and Kathleen and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, Francis Heaton, Mildred Bennet and Floyd Meahl.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where services will be held Friday at 11 AM. The interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
