- Bernard Tasselmyer, 85, of Lewiston, NY, died June 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Throop, PA, June 14, 1934 and was one of nine children of Stephen and Grace (nee Shollock) Tasselmyer.
Bernard moved to Lewiston in 1951 and worked as a tinsmith from 1951 until his retirement from General Motors in 1992. He also served in the United States Army from 1956-1958.
Golf was Bernie's game. He won the Senior Club Championship at Niagara Frontier Country Club four times and the Buffalo District Master's Division Championship two times. He also loved bowling, fishing, and traveling with family, especially to his cottage in Canada. He was a life long learner and jack-of-all trades who piloted planes and made the most amazing apple pies.
Bernard married Phyllis (nee Marsden) in 1961 and together they raised four beautiful children, Tara (Richard) Palmer, Philip (Nancy Morell), Brian (Sherry), and Vicki (Michael) Filicetti. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra, Andrea, Andrew, Sophia, Bella, Hayley, Kristen, Connor, Alex, and Madison; and one great-granddaughter, Stella Rose.He is also survived by his two brothers, Steven and Thomas.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
