- Dorothy Marie (Roepke) Jones Barnett passed into her heavenly Father's arms,
Tuesday morning, November 17, at her daughter's home in Joplin, Missouri. She was
94 years old. Dorothy was born in Greene County, Missouri, February 24, 1915. She
was the daughter of Gustav J. Roepke and Hedrick A. (Hunholtz) Roepke. She spent
the first half of her life in Springfield, Missouri. She later moved to Texas, Colorado,
and Nevada; returning to the Joplin area for the last 20 years of her life. Dorothy was
known for her generosity and kindness. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and a
woman of many talents. She loved to travel and meet new friends. Always quick witted,
Dorothy never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh! Her parents, four sisters,
five brothers, two husbands, a son, a stepdaughter, and one grandson preceded her in
death. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Royer and husband Lee, of Joplin,
Zenith Jacob of Joplin, and Kyla Jones of Tacoma, Washington; 22 grandchildren; 46
great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; 10 foster grandchildren; two siblings;
and numerous other relatives and friends
