Richard J. Ruff, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence.
He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 14, 1924, the son of the late John and Henrietta (Kemp) Ruff. He served in the US Army in Japan during World War II.
Richard belonged to the 100 Club at the Carborundum Company, where he worked for 42 years in the shipping department, retiring in 1987. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and William and two sisters, Helen and Loretta. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Cora Mae Nelson of Hamburg and John Ruff of Valrico, FL; several great-nieces and nephews and two close friends, Loretta Abbo and Phyllis Marra.
Friends may call Tuesday after 10 AM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where the Rev. David C. Hoecker will conduct services at 11 AM. The interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1920-18th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
