WILSON -- Miss Mary Ellen Alvers and
Walter D. Walas Jr. exchanged marriage vows
in a I p.m. triple ring ceremony Saturday (Aug.
7.1971) in Our Lady of the Rosary Church. The
Kev. H. R. Strassberger officiated.
The bide is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George W. Alvers, 323 Warren St., and the
bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Walas, 2823 Cambria-Wilson Road.
GIVEN IN MARRIAGE by her father, the
bride wore a gown with Victorian neckline,
Camelot sleeves trimmed with satin ribbon and
Venise lace. Lace and ribbon edged her floor
length veil and she carried a nosegay of yellow
daisies, white carnations and baby's breath
surrounded with yellow roses which were grown
especially for her by her grandfather, Howard F.
Schotz.
Mrs. Michael McAvoy, who was matron of
honor for her sister, wore a mint green dotted
Swiss gown styled with high collar, long sleeves
and empire waist trimmed with lace. She wore a
large white picture hat with mint green ribbon
and carried a nosegay of daisies with baby's
breath and carnations tinted green. Attired in
yellow gowns and carrying yellow bouquets were
the bridesmaids: Miss Patricia Alvers, sister of
the bride; Miss Anne McAvoy, Miss Sheila
Connor and Miss Vernetta Cipolla. Pamela
Alvers. flower girl, was similarly attired and
carried a basket of daisies.
BRUCE CHARBONEAU, Lewiston, was best
man. Ushers were Paul Alvers, brother of the
bride; Eric Sieracki, Gary Burns and Norman
Stamboly, Utica. Stephen Schotz was
ringbearei.
After a reception at the Cambria Community
Center, the couple left for a wedding trip to
Canada. They will reside in Pretoria Avenue,
Town of Niagara.
