LOCKPORT — Norman James Prue of the Town of Lockport passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. He was born in Newfane September 13, 1923 and was the son of Eva (Scherer) and Joseph Prue.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Tudor) Prue; children, Michael J. Prue and his wife, Ann Marie of Clarence, NY, Lucinda A. Fortuna of Middleport, NY and Jeffrey J. Prue and his wife, Carrie of Lockport; grandchildren, Alicia, Stephanie, James, Elaine, Aaron, Alex, Katelyn and Zachary and great granddaughters, Lilly and Emily; also survived by a sister, Mary Douglas of Florida, John Prue (Barbara) of California, Margaret Blake (Herbert) of Nevada and the late Roy Prue and Ruth Zedick; several nieces and nephews.
Norm graduated from Newfane High School and immediately entered the US Navy. He was a Gunner's Mate and served in the European Theatre where he participated in the Invasion of Normandy and then was stationed in the Philippines. He worked for Harrison Radiator where he was a millwright for 25 years retiring in 1987. Norm was an active member St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and the B. Leo Dolan Pose 410 American Legion. He delivered meals for 22 years for Meals-On-Wheels, was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Niagara County Gold Course.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to the church would be appreciated by the family.
