Charles "Chuck" Oliphant, age 86, of Ransomville died on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston after a lengthy illness. Chuck was born on July 22, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Ennis and Margaret (Heywang) Oliphant.
He was Trouble Lineman employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Chuck married Elizabeth "Betsy" A. Ross on July 28, 1951. Betsy predeceased him on October 14, 2012. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Chuck also volunteered with the Niagara County Meals on Wheels Program for over 20 years. He enjoyed being with his family and gaming at casinos.
He is survived by his four sons, Mark (Kathleen), Rick, Robert (Shelly Martin) and Bruce (Stephanie) Oliphant; his grandchildren, Arron, Sara, Eric (Nicole), Bryan (Hailey), Jennifer, Thomas, Charlie, Raymond, Sydney, and Austen; his great grandchildren, Ronin and Ellori; a brother, James (Barbara) Oliphant; two sisters, Marjorie Eodice, Helen (Harold) Denny; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Benjamin Oliphant; a daughter-in-law, Helga Oliphant; and two sisters, Betty Jane Goodman and Dorothy Seefeldt.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, August 16th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Memorial Services will begin in the funeral home at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Elizabeth Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara County Office for the Aging, Home Delivered Meal Program, 111 Main St., Lockport, NY 14094.
