- Gertrude A. (Focazio) Fitzpatrick, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, passed away of Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was 96. She was born in this city on May 17, 1922, the daughter of the late John and Magdalen (Sporer) Focazio. As a young lady, she was an avid bowler at her father’s business, Focazio Ideal Lanes.
A member of St. John de LaSalle RC Church, Gertrude was full of life, always happy and smiling. She loved traveling the world and dancing, especially to her favorite, Frank Sinatra. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be deeply missed.
She was employed by M&T Bank as a Secretary and for the Niagara County Department of Social Services.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Fitzpatrick in 1987; a daughter, Denise Fitzpatrick and siblings, Paula Shivery, Joan Palmeri, Virginia Forster and Delores Freeman.
Survivors include eight children, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Joan Denton, Maureen Fitzpatrick, Kathleen Fitzpatrick; Eileen Burkett; Trudy Trainor and Joseph Fitzpatrick; ten grandchildren, Brian and David Fitzpatrick ; Salam Melewski; Morgan and Stephen Denton; Troy and Hunter Burkett; Dylan and Ashley Trainor and Jack Fitzpatrick; three great grandchildren, Blake and Kale Melewsi ; Taren Fitzpatrick and several nieces and nephews.
Family present Sunday from 3-6 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where prayers will be said Monday 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John de LaSalle RC Church. The interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
