A lovely wedding took place on
Saturday morning, May 1 in St.
Francis of Assissi Church at 10
a.m. when Miss Lois M. Wilke,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
L. Wilke of 9 Clinton St.
became the bride of Joseph V.
Simpson of Chelsea Place, Buffalo.
The double ring ceremony
was performed by the Rt. Rev.
Msgr. John A. Weismantel. The
altar was decorated with white
gladioli and white snapdragons.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a gown of
ivory satin with sweetheart neckline,
long fitted sleeves pointing
over the wrists, a fitted bodice
with a flared hipline and a full
skirt which extended into a cathedral
train. Her veil of silk net
was fastened to a headpicee of
tiny lilies and orange blossoms.
She wore a necklace of pearls and
carried an arm bouquet of calla
lilies and white snapdragons tied
with white satin ribbon and cascading
white satin baby ribbons.
The maid-of-honor, Miss Mary
Simpson, sister of the bridegroom,
was gowned in orchid-pink satin
with a high sheer neckline of net
and draped bertha collar. The
bouffant skirt was fashioned with
a bustle. She wore a matching
headpiece and e l b o w length
gauntlets and caried an arm bouquet
of yellow roses tied with
matching satin ribbon.
The bridesmaids, Mrs. Doris
Graff, sister fo the bride, Mrs.
Betty Young, her aunt, the Misses
Marjorie and Carolyn Garrity,
cousins, were gowned in yellow,
powder blue, pink and aqua taffeta
feta
gowns respectively. They
wore matching headpieces and elbow
length gauntlets and all carried
arm bouquets of talisman
roses, snapdragons and gypsophelia.
Robert Owens of Buffalo was
the best man and the ushers were
Thomas Garrity, Jay Graff, Theodore
Young, and William Schnorr.
The bride and bridegroom presented
their attendants with gold
cigarette cases and gold novelty
perfume atomizers. The bridegroom
presented his bride with a
wrist watch.
Mrs. Raymond Wilke, mother
of the bride wore a black crepe
street length dress, fashioned
with draped skirt. She wore a
corsage of red roses and white
sweet peas. Mrs. Simpson, mother
of the bridegroom chose powder
blue crepe with lace trimming,
and a corsage of roses and sw^etpeas.
Richard Wilke, the bride's
brother, sang "On This Day O
Beautiful Mother" accompanied
by Mrs. William Bacon, organist.
A wedding breakfast was held
at the Hore Shoe grill, S. Niagara
St. A tiered wedding cake surrounded
by Spring flowers was
the centerpiece.
A reception was held in the
evening for 250 guests at the
Labor Hall. Guests were present
from Hamilton, Ont., Lancaster,
Williamsville and Buffalo.
After a two week's wedding
trip to Florida, Mr. and Mrs.
Simpson will be at home in 320
Chelsea Place, Buffalo.
