Mrs. Dorothy Barker Holladay.
wife of James A. Holladay. director
of research of the Carbide and Carbon
laboratories, died this noon in
Mount St. Mary's hospital of complications
following a long Illness.
Mrs. Holladay. daughter of the
late George and Ida Barker, early
residents of Niagara Falls, was born
in this city. She attended school at
the Loretto Academy and the Niagara
Falls high school and was
prominent in social circles here.
In 1913 she married James A. Holladay
of Charlottesville, Virginia,
and this city. In 1921 they moved to
Douglas Manor, Long Island, where
they made their home during the
next few years. In 1934 they returned
to Niagara Falls, making
their residence first at Lewiston
Heights, later In the Jefferson
apartments. Mrs. Holladay was a
member of the Tatler club.
Besides her husband. Mrs. Holladay
is survived by three sisters
and two brothers. Mrs. Samuel J.
Devlin of this city, Mrs. Arthur
Viertel of Poughkeepsie, New York,
and Mrs. H. A. Cozzens of Fort Erie,
Ont-, and George Barker of Poughkeepsie
and Raymond C. Barker of
Baden. North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow
afternoon at 4 o'clock at St.
Peter's Episcopal church, Jefferson
avenue and Second street. The Rev.
Charles Noyes Tyndell, D.D., rector
of the church, will officiate. Interment
will be at the convenience of
the family. It has been particularly
requested that no flowers be sent.
