Bacon Memorial Presbyterian
church was the scene of a very
beautiful wedding Saturday afternoon,
July 15, when Miss Margaret
Cockburn, daughter of Mrs. Janet.
Cockbum, of 358 Seventy-first
street, became the bride of Mr.
Harvey Sprague, son of Mrs.
Thomas Platts, of 244 Seventyninth
street.
The Rev. John K. Borneman,
pastor of the church, which had
been attractively decorated ' with
baskets of white snowballs, blue
delphinium and varied summer
flowers for the occasion, officiated
at the ceremony.
Before the bridal party entered,
Mrs. Alma Rowe, organist, played
"O, Promise Me" and "I Love You
Truly" and, as they entered the
church, the solemn Lohengrin
wedding march.
The bride, who was given In
marriage by her cousin, Mr. Gwilyra
Evans, was charming in a white
lace net gown fashioned on princess
lines. She wore a tiara of
white rosebuds over a dainty shoulder-
length veil and carried a bouquet
of white roses and baby's
breath.
Her only attendant was her sister,
Miss Nina Cockburn, who was
gowned in pale pink marquisette
cut on princess lines. She carried
a bouquet of pink roses and delphinium.
Mr. Edwin Decker was best man
and Mr. Gene Cooley was the usher.
The bride's mother wore a blue
lace gown with white accessories
and a shoulder corsage of sweet
peas while the groom's mother appeared
In flowered chiffon with
white accessories and a similar
corsage of sweet peas.
After the ceremony, a reception
attended by more than 75 guests
was held in the garden of the
groom's home. The bride's table
was covered with a white linen
cloth and centered with a threetiered
wedding cake which was
flanked on either side with flowerfilled
satin slippers.
Mr. and Mrs. Sprague will reside
at 231 Seventy-fourth street,
on their return from a wedding
trip through Canada.
Many pre-riuptlal showers were
given for the popular young bride.
