A veteran of the Spanish-American
War, who was wounded in
the charge of San Juan Hill, July
1. 1898, died yesterday (June 17,
1957) in Veterans Hospital, Buf-
falo, after a lengthy illness. He
was Frank Winter, 84, of 8734
Mang Ave.
Mr. Winter was born in Niagara
Falls and lived here all his;
life. Until his retirement in 1937
he worked as a buffer at the
William A. Rogers plant, formerly
here.
At one time, he was a member
of the former Carborundum band
and was active in other musical
organizations.
Mr. Winter is survived by his
wife Lena; a son Edwin: two
daughters, Mrs. Francis Heffler
and Mrs. Florence O'Brien, both
of Colorado; and a brother.,

.Funeral services will be con-:
ducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at
the Lane Funeral Home, and at 2
p.m. at the Grace Lutheran
Church. with the Rev. l.awrence
Herfurth officiating. Interment
will be in St. Matthews Cemetery.
