In Christ Episcopal Church, beautifully decorated with
the altar covered with ferns, white asters and white gladioli,
the font with white aster and gladioli and the organ with
mixed bouquets, a lovely Fall wedding was solemnized this
afternoon at 3 o'clock when Miss Mary Bewley. daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George C. Bewley. 590 East Ave., became the
bride of James B. Culbertson of Niagara Falls, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward W. Culbertson of Wise, Va., the Rev. H.
Irvine Lynds performing the ceremony.
The bride, given In marriage by
her father, wore a candlelight satin
bridal gown fashioned with a heartshaped
neckline, sleeves trimmed
with lace that ended in points over
the wrist and the skirt, edged with
lace, ending in a train. Her imported
Spanish lace veil, a-gift of
the bride's aunt, Mrs. C. Irving
Fisher, fell from a cluster of orange
blossoms and she wore string of
pearls, a gift of the groom. She
carried a cascade bouquet of white
orchids, stephanotis and white
gladioli blossoms.
Maid Of Honor
The bride's sister. Miss Margaret
Bewley of Lockport was maid of
honor and the bridegroom's sister,
Mrs. William F. Colyer of Wise, was
matron of honor. They both wore
floor-length gowns of light blue
starched chiffon with appllqued
lace. Their headdresses were of
fresh bronze and yellow pompoms
and they carried cascade bouquets
of yellow and bronze pompoms.
George W. Bewley of Lockport,
the bride's brother, was best man
and ushers were Midshipman Robert
W. Bewley of New York City
Michael Di Gennaro, James Seymour
and Lawrence Foster, all of
Niagara Falls.
The bride's mother wore a gown
of black crepe with aqua trim and
a hat of black felt with dotted aqua
veil. She wore a corsage of white
gardenias. The groom's mother
wore a gown of navy blue with
white trim, a blue felt hat and a
corsage of white gardenias.
Following the ceremony, a reception
was held for 100 guests at
the Park Hotel which was decorated
with mixed flowers. Nine were
seated at the bridal table which
was centered with a white bride's
cake, topped with a miniature bride
and groom and outlined with rose
buds.
Couple To Live in Buffalo
The couple left on a wedding
trip, the bride wearing an aquablue
crepe dress with brown accessories
and a white orchid. They
will be at home at 175 Linwood
Ave., Buffalo, after Oct. 1.
Out-of-town g u e s t s attended
from Wise. Portsmouth, Va., Cleveland,
Tonawanda, Buffalo, Niagara
Falls. Rochester, Newfane and
Honeoye Falls.
Pre-nuptlal events for the bride
Included: A dinner and variety
shower held fn Cleveland by the
Misses Mildred Brink, Claudeline
Lewis and Mary Olive Banfleld; a
buffet dinner and variety shower
given by Mrs. H. M. Roenke of
Kenmore and Mrs. Clarence Hall of
Clayton, held at the Summer home
of their parents. Dr. and Mrs. H. C.
Guess in Wilson; bridge-luncheon
given by the bride's aunt. Mrs.
William Bewley at her home in
Carlisle Gardens.
A tea and pantry shower given
by Mrs. Alexander M. Nelson. Miss
Catharine Lewis and Miss Sally
Walker at the latter's apartment
in Buffalo; a tea given by the
bride's aunts, Mrs. Richard Bewley
and Mrs. C. Irving Fisher at the
latter's home on Bast Avenue; a
dessert bridge given by Mrs. Capel
McNash at her home in Carlisle
Gardens; a dinner given by Miss
Catharine Lewis at Hotel Lennox
in Buffalo.
Pknlc Sapper Given By Aunt
A buffet supper given by Miss
Ruth. Zuidema and Mn. Robert
stockwell at the latter's home on
Le Van Avenue and a picnic supper
and variety shower given by
the bride's aunt, Mrs. Clarence
Brandt at her home on South
Street.
A rehearsal dinner was given
Friday evening at the Red Coach
Inn at Niagara Falls with covers
laid for 12.
