- Blanche L. Wise, a longtime resident of the Town of Niagara, died on Monday, October 31, 2016 in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital. She was 78. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York on August 23, 1938, a daughter of Elmer J. and Rose (O’Regan) Patterson.
As a young woman, Blanche worked for the former Loblaw’s as a cashier. On August 17, 1957, she married Melvin W. Wise and became a homemaker. She was a member of Colonial Heights Free Methodist Church and Forestview Church of God. She loved playing Dominos and was known as the “Domino Queen”, especially Mexican Train Dominos. She also loved cooking and was known for the excellent spaghetti sauce. An avid Buffalo Bills, she will be remember most for her beautiful smile and her devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Melvin, she is survived by two children, Patty (Vince) Gebczyk of Niagara Falls; Danny (Teresa) Wise of the Town of Niagara; a brother, John (Genova) Patterson of Chicago and a sister, Theresa Hornsby of Denham Springs, Louisiana; grandchildren, Christina (Will) McQuillan and Alyssa (Andrew) Campbell both of Somerville, SC and Kevin D. Wise of the Town of Niagara; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Earl, Edward and Ralph Patterson; Anna Mae Anderson; Marie Patterson and Rosalie Swenson.
Friends may call Thursday after 4 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where the Rev. Ronald Maines will conduct services at 8 PM. Private graveside services will be held Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery. If desired donations may be made in Mrs. Wise’s name to Niagara Hospice, Inc.
