BUFFALO - Werner "Vern" H. Klenner, age 78, of Sanborn, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo. Born in Liegnitz, Germany on March 29, 1933 to the late Max and Martha Klenner. He came to the U.S. as a teenager and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1954, earning the rank of Sergeant. Werner was employed as a Production Supervisor at Harrison Radiator for 29 years. He was an active member of the former Sanborn Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and trustee, a former member of the Sanborn Fire Company, Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc., and volunteered at Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Hobbies and interests included fishing, gardening, golf, was an avid Sabres and Bills fan, and enjoyed spending quality time with his family on the weekends at the cottage on Lake Ontario, and watching his sons and grandsons in sporting events.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Carol A. (Jackson) Klenner. They were united in marriage July 27, 1955; three children, Raymond (Sandy) Klenner of Sanborn, JoAnn (Patrick) Carey of Niagara Falls and Daniel (Kathy) Klenner of Annapolis, MD; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Klenner; three step-granddaughters, three step-great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews in both the U.S. and Germany. Predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Helmut Klenner and a sister, Elsbeth Kahl.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-9 PM. Services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Dunmire on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
