Martin F. Wright, 80, of
5714 Buffalo Ave., the first
Carborundum Co. employe to
complete 50 years of service,
died today (July 3, 1963) in
Memorial Hospital, a f t e r a
short illness.
Born in Butler, Pa., he came
here as a boy with his parents.
He a t t e n d e d local
schools and began work with
the Carborundum Co. in 1898.
He served as foreman in
various departments during
his half-century of employment.
Mr. Wright was a member
of Odd Fellows Lodge No.
81, Junior Order of United
American Mechanics, and Retired
Mens Service Club.
He retired from Carborun
dum on July 1, 1948.,
He is survived by his wife,
Byrd. E. W r i g h t ; two sons,
Harold Wright, this city, and
Arthur L. Wright, Logan,
Ohio, and a daughter, Mrs.
Estella Carpenter, Kenmore.
A brother, Frank Wright,
this city, seven grandchildren,
and two great-grandchildren
also survive.
Funeral services will be
held at 1:30 p.m. -Saturday at
the Cornell and Daggett Funeral
Home. Rev. Andrew
Turnipseed will officiate. Bur
ial will be in Riverdale cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral
home from 2 p.m. to 4
p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning
today.
