  1. 1.  WRIGHT, Stanley L was born about 1904 in New York; died on 4 Mar 1946 in Olcott, Niagara County, NY.

    Notes:

    Niagara Gazette - 3/5/1946

    OLCOTT, N. Y., March 5-Trage-
dy struck an Olcott home today
when the body of Stanley Wright,
41, who left with his dog yesterday
to chop wood, was recovered from
    the Eighteen-mile creek by Olcott
liremen. The body was removed to
    the Prudden funeral home. Lockport,
    and funeral plans are being
    completed this afternoon.
The Wright home is near the
creek and, when Mr. Wright failed
to return from his wood chopping
    expedition late yesterday afternoon,
a searching party was organized by
members of the family. Olcott firemen
and others. At about that time
    the dog returned home drenched
    with water.
    Firemen traced footprints of both
the man and dog, which led to the
water's edge at the creek. Mr.
Wright's coat and hat were found
    on the bank. Dragging operations
were started in charge of Fire Chief
    Alton Horanburg and were con-
    tinued until midnight. Shortly after
    resuming operations this morning
    the body was recovered.
    Dr. Mable Carmer, coroner, of
    newfane, was summoned and issued
a certificate of accidental death by
drowning. There was no witness of
    the accident. Friends believe that
either Mr. Wright fell into the
creek and his dog attempted to
rescue him or the dog felll in and
Mr. Wright was trying to save it.
The creek is quite deep at this
point, has a strong current and was
filled with floating ice which made
    dragging operations difficult.
    Mr. Wright's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William Klumpp, live on the
opposite side of the creek and at
first it was thought that he had
gone to visit them.. This delayed the
started of the search for some time.
The Wright family moved here from
    Lockport three years ago.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife,
    Mrs. Helen Wright; two daughters,
Patricia and Carol Wright, all at
home; his parents, two sisters, Mrs.
    Francis Gerlin, of Lockport, and
Miss Esther Klumpp, of Olcott, and
    one brother, Wesley Wright, of
    Lockport.
