Tonawanda, died Monday
(July 24, 1972).
He is survived by his widow,
Esther Young Moebius; a son,
the Rev. John C. Moebius, of
History, N.C.; two daughters,
Mrs. Harold (Mildred) McGinn
and Mrs. Erwin (Jean)
Milleville, both of Niagara
Falls; a sister, Mrs. Dora Yost
of Florida; and two brothers,
Chester Moebius of Florida and
William Moebius of Buffalo. He
was the brother of the late
Charles Moebius. He is also
survived by 10 grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
at Trinity Old Lutheran
Church, Sheridan Drive and
Larch Road, Tonawanda,
Thursday at 2 p.m.

Hickory - The Rev. John Charles Moebius passed away Dec. 26, 2009, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. The Rev. Moebius was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late John E. and Ester Moebius. He was a member and Pastor Emeritus to Millers Lutheran Church. Pastor Moebius served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a World War II veteran. He saw overseas action in the Phillipines. He attained rank of Master Sergeant. After World War II, Pastor Moebius attended and graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, in 1949. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus in 1952. He served the Lutheran Church for more than 55 years. His first church was Southpark Lutheran Church in Buffalo, N.Y. He served Southpark from 1952 to 1956. He then accepted a call to Holy Trinity in 1956. Then in 1962, the Rev. Moebius accepted a call to Millers Lutheran Church on Springs Road.The Rev. Moebius retired from Millers in the summer of 1986. Upon retirement the Rev. Moebius was still active in the Lutheran Church by serving as interim pastor to churches in Mount Holly, Unity Lutheran in Hickory and Taylorsville. He also served as visitation pastor to Friendship Lutheran. Pastor Moebius also enjoyed volunteering time working the voting booths at local precincts and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Edith Buerger Moebius of Hickory; a sister, Jean Moebius Millville of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; sons, Charles Burford and wife, Lillian, of Brainard, Minn., and Joel C. Moebius and wife, Melanie, of Hickory; daughters, Beth Burford Gast of Wheeling, W.Va., Wendy Moebius Bauer and husband, Mark, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Paula Moebius Williams and husband, Ken, of Naples, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, John C. Moebius Jr.; a daughter, Anne Moebius Cooper; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Moebius; and a sister, Mildred Moebius Maginn of Niagara Falls, N.Y. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, Hickory. The funeral services will be held at Millers Lutheran Church, Springs Road, at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. The services will be officiated by the Revs. Robert Alle, Luther Knauff and Stanley Stiver. Burial will take place in the church cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by members of the Hickory American Legion Post 48. Mildred L. (Young) MaGinn, 84, of Niagara Falls, found eternal peace on Friday December 4, 2009 following a brief illness. She was born in Buffalo, NY, on July 3,1925, a daughter of the late John and Esther (Young) Moebius. She attended area schools. On February 7, 1945, she married Harold MaGinn in Trinity Old Lutheran Church, Buffalo, NY. Mrs. MaGinn was a long time and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and sang in its' choir, member of the Women of the Church and served with the alter committee. She was an avid quilter. Survivors include her beloved husband, Harold; two sons, Rev. Douglas MaGinn (Karen) of St. Clair, MI and David MaGinn of Niagara Falls; a brother, Rev. John (Edith) Moebius of Hickory, NC; a sister, Jean Milleville of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Mark MaGinn (Lynnae) of Dublin, OH, Michael MaGinn (Amy) of Upper Sandusky, OH, Matthew MaGinn (Tara) of Murfreesboro, TN and Michele Hjelm (Chris) of Reno, NV; seven great grandchildren, Courtney, Alec, Taylor, Ashleigh, Aaron, Sophia and Ava. Friends may call Monday from 2-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 AM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cleveland Avenue and 18th Street, Niagara Falls, with the Rev. David Hoecker officiating. JEAN M. MILLEVILLE, age 92 of Niagara Falls, NY, was called to her heavenly home on December 1, 2019 while at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Buffalo, NY on October 27, 1927; daughter of the late John and Esther (Young) Moebius. Jean was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, in Bergholz. She was employed at Varsity Sporting Goods, McDonald's, and Invenex/Gibco on Grand Island. Jean was a dedicated homemaker, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Erwin Milleville on July 29, 1997. They were married May 28, 1949, and were blessed with three children, Larry Milleville of GA, Linda (Rodney) Haseley of Sanborn, and Paul Milleville of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Lisa (Wayne) Ohol, Jeffrey (Lori) Haseley, and Michael (Andrea) Haseley; great-grandchildren, Madison, Cassidy, Timothy, Julia, Joshua, and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three sisters in law, Alice Lange, Emily Milleville, and Joanne Milleville. Preceding her in death included a brother, John (Edith) Moebius, and sister, Mildred (Harold) MaGinn.
Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Wednesday (December 4) from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dan Tabor, on Thursday (December 5) at 9:30 a.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, or Niagara Hospice.
