Oscar LaVerne Zimmerman, 23,
of 32 Stark street, a veteran of
World War II. died Saturday in
the Niagara County Sanitarium
after a long illness contracted
while in the service.
Following services at 2 p. m.
today at the late residence, Zimmerman
was buried with military
honors in FJmlawn Cemetery. The
rites were conducted by the Rev.
Robert Hein of St. Peter's American
Lutheran Church.
Zimmerman served as boatswain's
mate aboard the U. S. De-
°troyer Black and took part in
several major engagements in the
Pacific before receiving a medical
discharge.
He was the son of Mrs. Clarice
Nihiser Zimmerman and the
late Louis F. Zimmerman. In addition
to his mother he leaves
four brothers, Eugene and Robert
of North Tonawanda. Richard
with the U. S. Army in Japan and
Donald of Tonawanda, and two
sisters, Mrs. Louis Hicks and Mrs.
Violet Behm of Tonawanda.
