Young St., died Tuesday evening
(April 28, 1965) in Roswell Park
Memorial Institute, Buffalo, after
a prolonged illness. Born in Aus
tria-Hungary. Mr. Zipp lived in the
Tonawandas fcr 50 years and was
employed in local lumber mills. He
was a member of St Francis of
Assisi Church, of the Holy Name
Society of the church, and of the
272 Club. He is survived by bis
wife, Anna (nee Baumgartner),
five sons, John, Martin Jr., Fred,
Paul and Anthony, two daughters,
Mrs. William Thiebolt and Mrs.
Marmon Tower, 18 grandchildren
and three g r e a t grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Hamp Funeral
Home where services will be
at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and at 9 a.m.
in St. Francis Church with the Rev.
Wilbur Yaeger officiating. Interment
will be in St Francis Cemetery.

son street, died last night at
Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo,
after a short illness. He was
born in Austria and had lived in
Tonawanda nearly all his life. He
is survived by his wife, Luchterhand,
two sons, Richard and Robert,
and two daughters, Patricia
and Sylvia. Also by his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zipp of Tonawanda,
five brothers, John, Martin,

Zipp - Richard Wilson, NY - Richard J. Zipp, 80, who was the Superintendent of Wilson Central Schools for 28 years and a 46-year member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Department lost his hard fought battle to cancer on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice A (Strassburg) Zipp; his sons, Richard (Laurie), Douglas (Catherine); daughter, Leanne (Matt) Paul and grandchildren, Richard, Sarah (Sandra Walker-Zipp) and Max (Leanne and Matt). Siblings Sylvia Schaad, Patricia Follendorf and Robert Zipp. He was preceded in death by his mother Charlotte and father Joseph. After graduating from Tonawanda H.S. in 1955 he earned an undergraduate and master's degree from Buffalo State College and his SDA certificate from Niagara University. He had a storied career in educational administration as first a teacher in North Tonawanda in the early 60's followed by 32-years at Wilson Central School as principal and Superintendent. Richard impacted the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of young people throughout his leadership in education and is known throughout the Western, NY region as one of the top educators of his time. His professional commitments included: NYS Council of School Superintendents, Erie-Niagara Superintendent Association, Orleans Niagara BOCES, Niagara-Orleans Athletic League Council and President, Section VI Athletic Council, Wilson Central School Booster Club, HealthNow Systems Board of Directors and WNY Blue Cross Shield Board of Directors. A man dedicated to giving of himself, he believed in service and giving back to the community in which you live. A 45-year member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Company, 42 years as a member of the local Lion's Club, he was a lifetime member of the Wilson Community Library, the Wilson Historical Society, and a member of the St. Peter's North Ridge Lutheran Church. An avid golfer, he was a long time member of the Tara Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, FL. In addition to being a dedicated Bills fan he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. The family will be present Friday, December 22 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 - 12:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 at the Hamilton & Clark funeral home at 270 Young Street, Wilson, NY 14172. She was 63. Born in Tonawanda, she graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1968. She received her BA in mathematics from SUNY Albany in 1973. She began a computer programming career in Buffalo at Computer Task Group (CTG) where she advanced to Technical Service Manager, providing help desk services and custom programming to business clients using CTG's Basic Four Minicomputers. In 1996, along with her husband, Marianne founded ProServe NY Corporation, a software firm specializing in enterprise software serving small to mid-sized businesses in Western New York. She retired in 2006 upon selling the company. Marianne was an avid tennis player, a frequent walker on our local bike trails, and an enthusiastic reader. She was well-known for her Scrabble parties through which she raised money for the Literacy Volunteers of America. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling with friends to Europe and Aruba.
