    A native of Sulmona,
    Abruzzi, Italy, he came to
    Niagara Falls in 1910. He
    worked at the Airco Speer
    Carbon Corp. as a laborer for
    15 years, retiring in 1954.
    Formerly he worked at
    DuPont Co. for 20 years as a
    sodium operator.
    He was the husband of the
    late Eleanora LaCivita.
    Survivors include three sons,
    Louis C. and Ernest P.
    LaCivita of Niagara Falls, and
    Albert F. LaCivita of Potomac,
    Md.; three daughters, Mrs.
    James J. (Edith) Serrio, Mrs.
    Peter (Celia) Barto and Mrs.
    F. S. (Anne) Cheff, all of
    Niagara Falls, 10 grandchildren
    and one greatgranddaughter.
    Funeral services will be at
    the M. J. Colucci Funeral
    Chapel, 468 19th St., Friday at
    8:45 a.m. and at St. Jospeh's
    Church at 9:30 a.m.
    Burial will be in St. Jospeh's
    Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the
    funeral home today and
    Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9
    p.m.
    The rosary will be recited
    Thursday at 8 p.m. at the
    funeral home.

    NIAGARA FALLS — Edith (LaCivita) Serrio, 98, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011, at her residence, surrounded by her family, and while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Lackawanna, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Leonora (Oddi) LaCivita.

    For many years, she was a trusted bookkeeper for several local businesses. Edith was an excellent baker and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling. Most importantly, she centered her life on her family and was very dedicated to their care and well-being.

    Mrs. Serrio was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, James J. Serrio on September 14, 1991. She was the dear mother of James F. (Judy) Serrio, Frank A. (Dee) Serrio and Janet (Randy) McDaniel; dear grandmother of Mary and Anthony; dear sister of Louis (Gladys) LaCivita and Ernest LaCivita, both of Niagara Falls, NY, and Albert (Bernice Parenti) LaCivita of Lewiston, NY; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by two sisters, Celia (late Peter Sr.) Barto and Anne R. (late Sabbath) Cheff.

    Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4–8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, November 23rd at 11:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. at Independence Ave., Niagara Falls. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.     CHICAGO — Anne R. (LaCivita) Cheff, 94, a life-long resident of Niagara Falls, NY until moving to the Chicago suburban area in 2007, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011. Anne worked as a buyer for over 20 years at the former Beir’s Department Store in Niagara Falls, NY. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sabbath F. Cheff, in 1983.

    Anne was the fond mother of Dr. Ronald (Arlene) Cheff of Hinsdale, IL; grandmother of Carrie (Jonathan) Kowalski, Joseph M. (Alexis) Cheff and Alissa (Michael) Hennen; great-grandmother of Julia, Abby and Kate Kowalski, Aidan Cheff and Avery Hennen. She is also survived by one sister and three brothers: Edith (late James) Serrio, Ernest LaCivita, Louis (Gladys) LaCivita, all of Niagara Falls, NY, and Al (Bee) LaCivita of Lewiston, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Celia (late Peter J. Sr.) Barto.

    Louis C. LaCivita, 96, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Leonora (Oddi) LaCivita.

    Louis was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools including the former Trott Vocational High School and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.

    During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a Technician 5th Grade Auto Mechanic with the 34th Ordinance Co. In 1946 he married Gladys L. (Branson) LaCivita in Birmingham, England.

    Louis was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Hooker Chemical Co., currently known as Occidental Chemical Co. for forty-two years until retiring in the early 1980's. During the 1970's and 1980's he was also employed as the head security guard at the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion and also worked at various painting and remodeling sites.

    Louis was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge in Niagara Falls, NY. Louis was an avid bowler and participated in the Occidental Bowling League. Among his accomplishments was winning the doubles championship with his brother, Ernest, in 1959.

    Louis and his wife liked to go dancing every Saturday night at the Canadian Legion and both the Elks and Moose Lodges in Niagara Falls, NY.

    Most of all Louis will be remembered as a family man who was kind hearted and generous.

    In addition to his wife of sixty-nine years, Louis is survived by one daughter, Karen A. (Brian K. ) Bovanizer of Niagara Falls, N.Y. ; two grandsons, Todd M. Bovanizer and Scott D. Bovanizer; three great grandchildren Jordan, Dillon and Collin; one brother Albert (Bernice) LaCivita of Lewiston, NY.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters ,Edith (late James) Serrio, Celia (late Peter, Sr.) Barto, Anne (late Sabbath) Cheff; and one brother Ernest P. LaCivita.

    Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 5th at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Steward Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.

    LEWISTON - Ernest P. LaCivita, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Lackawanna, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Leonora (Oddi) LaCivita.

    Ernie came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with his family and grew up at his current residence on 26th Street, where he continued to live until the present time. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1939. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd Class Motor Machinist from September 15, 1942, until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1945. Ernest worked as a pipefitter at Occidental Petroleum Co. in Niagara Falls until he retired in 1981. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Ernest was an avid bowler and participated in the Occidental Bowling League for over 30 years where he was the recipient of many awards for both individual and team achievements. Among his accomplishments was winning the doubles championship with his brother, Lou, in 1959; the singles class champion in 1964; and in 1967 a team championship award. Ernie was always very social to everyone he met and a big part to his family. Above all, Ernest's greatest pleasure was spending time with his loving family.

    Ernest is survived by two brothers, Louis (Gladys) LaCivita of Wheatfield, NY and Albert (Bernice Parenti) LaCivita, Sr. of Lewiston, NY, and was predeceased by three sisters, Edith (late James) Serrio, Celia (late Peter Sr.) Barto and Anne (late Sabbath) Cheff. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

    Visitation will be on Saturday from 5-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 24th at 10 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev.
