Ridgeview Mobile Court, Lockport
- Olcott Road, formerly of
5M93 W. Jackson St. Lockport,
died unexpectedly Tuesday
afternoon.
The rescue squad of Lockport
Fire Dept. was called at 3:25
P.m. to the CIO Hall on Walnut
Street, where Mr. Blackley was
strcken. The resuscitator was
used far 17 minutes with no
results and Mr. Blackley was
taken by emergency ambulance
to Lockport Memorial Hospital,
where he was pronounced dead
on arrival.
He was born Dec. 25, 1900,
in Lockport, a son of John J.
and Margaret (Noble) Blackley.
He retired in 1966 from the
s h i p p i n g department at
Harrison Radiator Division,
General Motors Corp., where he
had been employed for 30 years.
Mr. Blackley resided for
many years at the W. Jackson
St. address where he was wellknown
for hs extensive Iris
gardens. He recently moved to
the mobile court.
He was a member of Mount
Olive Lutheran Church, New
York State Iris Society, Lockport
Senior Citizens, and Parks
and Tree Commission of the
City of Lockport. He was secretary
of the Retiree's Chapter of
Amalgamated Local 686, Un:ted
Auto Workers.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Esther (Siebert) Blackley;. two
daughters and four sons, John
C. Blackley Jr., Mrs. James
(Lois) Gardner and Mrs. Peter
(Jo Ann) Lagoda, all of Lockport;
Arthur Brauer of Clarence
Center, Warren and Donald
Brauer of Williamsville; a
brother,--Harold Blackley of
Lockport; also 25 grandchildren;
nine great - grandchildren
and several nieces and
nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to
9 p.m. today and from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow at
Prudden & Kandt Funeral
Home, 242 Genesee St.
Funeral services will be held
at 2 p,m. Friday at Mount Olive
Lutheran Church. Burial will be
in Cold Sprmg Cemetery.
