    BELLA VISTA, AR — Edward W. Mietlicki, Sr., 88, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born on January 10, 1924 in Niagara Falls, New York, to Michael Mietlicki and Helen Mojeski Mietlicki.

    He was raised in Niagara Falls, New York and attended local schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a member of the 542nd Airborne Unit. He married Lorraine Thomas on March 25, 1971 in McLean, Virginia. They moved to Bella Vista in 2007.

    He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Bella Vista, Arkansas; four daughters, Sheila (Philip) Trane, of Niagara Falls Katherine Pouthier of Englewood, Florida, Clara (Randy) Heina, and Helen Tickett of Niagara Falls; three sons, David (Beverly) Mietlicki of Whitesville, NY, Duane (Yvonne) Mietlicki, and Keith Mietlicki of Niagara Falls,NY; his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard of Niagara Falls, Frank (Barbara) and Henry (Janet) of Lockport, NY, NY; three sisters, Irene Schlegel of Niagara Falls, NY, and Natalie Gornicki and Betty (Tim) Zettel of Bellview FL; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Edward W. Mietlicki, Jr.; sisters, Helen Stopa, Mary Luzak, Lottie Luzak, Pearl Cieslik, Dolores Meller; and brother, Chester.

    A memorial service will be held on February 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, 5871 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Pastor Perez officiating.

    Irene Ohol Schlegel passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on May 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Mojeski Mietlicki. Irene worked as a machine operator for RJ Reynolds, in Lockport for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel RC Church in Niagara Falls, and enjoyed Bingo, embroidery, crocheting, cooking and baking.

    Irene is predeceased by her husbands, Adam Ohol Sr., who passed away on November 19, 1988; and Harry Schlegel, who passed away in 1994. Irene is also predeceased by two grandchildren.

    Natalie S. (Mietlicki) Gornicki 81 of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born in Lewiston, NY on January 16, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Mojeski) Mietlicki. Natalie worked as a waitress at the former Beverley Lanes. She enjoyed her home in Florida, playing bingo and going to the casino. Natalie especially enjoyed going to the casinos & resorts in Biloxi, Mississippi with her husband Casimir.


    She is survived by two daughters, Julia E. Duguay and Lydia J. (Thomas) Watson ; son, Gary(Tina) Mietlicki; grandkids, Brianna, Lia, Nina and Hayley; sister, Betty(Tim) Zettel ;brothers, Richard Mietlicki, Frank(Barbara) Mietlicki and Henry(Janet) Mietlicki. Also survived by her nephew Ronald Luzak and several other nieces and nephews.


    Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband's James M. Gall Sr. and Casimir Gornicki; son, James M. Gall Jr.; brothers, Chester Mietlicki and Edward W. Mietlicki Sr.; sisters, Irene Ohol Schlegel, Helen Stopa, Mary Luzak, Lottie Luzak, Pearl Cieslik and Dolores Meller.

Frank entered the United States Marines on November 14, 1951 and was honorably discharged as a PFC on November 7, 1952. After serving his country he began working on the family farm and eventually at GrowMark. After retiring from working, he enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Miosga) Mietlicki; four children, Michele (Stephano) Pellicano, Connie (Mark) Crane, Richard J.     Kenneth D. Luzak, a longtime Niagara Falls resident died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 peacefully at home. He was born in the Town of Lockport on March 8, 1934, the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Mietlicki) Luzak.

    Kenneth attended Fifth Street School and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School. A veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Korean War aboard the USS Laffey. Following his service time he worked for Niagara Junction Railroad for several years before being inducted as a policeman for the Niagara Falls Police Department. Kenneth retired in 1984 after 23 years of service.

    He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (Wills) Luzak in 1994; a daughter, Kelly Luzak; and sister, Patricia (Kozlowski) Luzak. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Cimini of Las Vegas, Kenneth D. Luzak, Jr. (Nancy) of Las Vegas and Kevin Luzak (MaryEmma) of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Cimini; Joshua and Jacob Luzak, Kenny III and Justin Luzak; a sister, Marilyn Kilbury of MS; his companion, Anna Mitravich and her children, Colleen, Anthony, Joseph and Taramarie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family will be present on Monday from 3-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday 11 AM. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 331 Alberta Drive, Amherst, NY 14226.

    NIAGARA FALLS — Patricia K. Kozlowski of Niagara Falls, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012. She was 75. She was born in Niagara Falls on April 20, 1937, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Mietlicki) Luzak. She attended local schools and then worked in housekeeping at N.F. Memorial for many years.

    Mrs. Kozlowski enjoyed bingo, needlepoint and embroidery but her greatest joy was her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    She is survived by her fiance', Robert D. Edwards of Ransomville; three children, Brenda Lickers, George (Pamela Miles) Kopera, Jr. and Browny (fiance' Patricia Kowaleski) Kozlowski; two step-children, Geraldine (Dennis) Kenney and Michael (Joan) Kozlowski; siblings, Kenny (late Beverley) Luzak and Marilyn (late Frank) Kilbury; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Bronislaus Kozlowski, in 1989.

    Duane C. Mietlicki, 64, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 22, 2017.  Born on July 2, 1952 in Niagara Falls, NY, Duane was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Lingenfelter) Mietlicki. 
    Mr. Mietlicki was a lifelong area resident.  Duane attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.  He proudly served in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Fiske, until he was honorably discharged in 1975.  On October 23, 1976, Mr. Mietlicki married the former Yvonne Guilliams.  For thirty-four years, Duane was employed as a millwright at Occidental Corporation.
    As an attendee  of Destiny Christian Church, Duane was a Faithful Servant who loved God.  He was known for his generous heart, a man you could count on.  His friendly and caring spirit shined in all he did.  Duane loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.  He took pride in his ’67 Barracuda and was an avid sports fan.  Duane could always be counted on when there was a need.
    Mr. Mietlicki was a beloved husband of 40 years to Yvonne (Guilliams) Mietlicki; loving father to Melissa Mietlicki and Kevin Mietlicki; brother to Sheila (Phil) Trane, Katherine (Greg Zayatz) Pouthier, David (Beverly) Mietlicki, Keith Mietlicki, Clara (Randy) Heina and Helen Tickett.  Duane is also survived by many nieces and nephews and the Dearborn family, who was close to his heart, Craig, Terra, and Sam, Gracie, Jonah and Lazarus who all knew him as “Grandpa D”.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Mietlicki.
    The family will gather to receive friends on Saturday, May 27th from 3-5 p.m. in Destiny Christian Church, 905 College Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Lou Perez officiating.  Navy Military Honors will conclude Duane’s funeral service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara.

    Keith Mietlicki Life Story

    Keith M. Mietlicki, 70, passed away on March 29, 2024 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born on August 10, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Edward (late Lorraine)Mietlicki, Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Lingenfelter) (late George) Fletcher.

    Keith was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.  From 1974 until 2013, he was employed as a foreman working for the Laborers Local #91.  Keith’s passion was golfing, especially at Hyde Park Golf Course.  He also enjoyed fishing, football, and softball.  Keith loved spending time with his family, especially his great-great-niece, Zharay.  He was the type of man who would “give his shirt off his back” for anyone in need. 

    Keith is survived by two daughters, Marci DeMartinis and Mindi Levine; 3 grandsons; four sisters, Sheila (Philip) Trane, Katherine (Greg) Pouthier, Clara (Randy) Heina, and Helen Tickett; one brother, David (Beverly) Mietlicki and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great-niece, and cousins as well as many other family members and friends  He is also survived by friends and golfing buddies, Marty, Dennis, and Reggie.  Besides his parents and step-parents, Keith was predeceased by brothers, Duane (Yvonne) Mietlicki and Edward Mietlicki. 

    A celebration of Keith’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. in Destiny Christian Church, 905 College Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara County SPCA and/or Save The Michaels.

    Christiana H. Sheley, the daughter of Walter and Pearl Cieslik, passed away Monday morning, January 9th, 2017 after a long illness. Chris, or Dolly as she was better known by her friends and co-workers at the Red Coach Inn, The Riverside, and the Clarkson House, was a devoted and caring mother who spent her later years driving school bus for First Student, so she could continue to mother children after her own grew up and no longer needed her constant attention. 
    Upon retiring she spent her time baking, decorating, crocheting, and supporting her family's escapades. Embracing her role as an aunt she helped extended family by always being ready to babysit and spoil her extended family, until she was blessed with her grandson, Oliver Michael Paul Guthrie. 
    She is survived and will be missed by her husband, Kenneth; her son, Scott; her daughter-in-law, Lori; her daughter, Trisha; her son-in-law, Anthony; her sister, Karlene; her good daughter, Paula Molfese; her lifelong friends, and most especially, her beloved dog, Fiona. 
    There will be no prior visitation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.

    LOCKPORT — Anthony B. "Tony" Meller of Lockport, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on November 18, 1958 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony B. Meller, Jr. and the late Dolores Mietlicki Meller.

    Tony was a Sales Manager for Electrochem Division of Wilson Greatbatch in Clarence. He was an avid softball player, playing in numerous leagues throughout Western New York. Most recently, he played for the Royals in the Amherst Slow Pitch Softball League, winning the championship for the last five years. He also participated in the Softball Magazine Spring Training for the past several years.

    He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hayes-Meller; his son, Cole Anthony Meller; one sister, Annette (Stephen DiCarlo) Fitzgerald of Lockport; one brother, Andrew (Kelly) Meller of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call on Monday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered from St. John the Baptist R.C.     NY, passed away on Thursday August
    13, 2015 at his home while under the
    care of Niagara Hospice. Born in
    Lewiston, NY, he was the son of the late
    John S. and Loretta (Mietlicki) Luzak,
    Sr.
    John was a lifelong resident of the area.
    He attended local schools and graduated
    from the former Bishop Duffy High
    School and received his Associates
    Degree from Niagara County
    Community College. On September 26, 1960, he married Cynthia A.
    (Tato) Luzak at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. For
    over 25 years, John was employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber
    Company in Niagara Falls. Following his retirement he continued
    working as a driver for the Ransomville Bus Lines and the
    Youngstown Senior Transportation Program.
    John and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the country visiting
    their children, especially to Las Vegas. He was sports enthusiast and
    member of the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed
    collecting sports memorabilia, golfing and antique cars.
    In addition to his wife of 54years, John is survived by his six children,
    Jacqueline (Nancy Major) Luzak of San Diego, CA, Christopher L.
    (Savita) Luzak of Las Vegas, NV, Jennifer (Stephen) Green of
    Rochester, NY, Johanna (Marshall) Diebold of Montclair, NJ,

    YOUNGSTOWN - A grinding
    head-on collision in treelined
    River Road early today
    claimed the lives of four persons,
    including three teenagers.
    State police and residents
    who live near the accident
    scene termed it one of the
    worst in Niagara County history.
    Dead are:
    Robert Luzak, 26. 6713
    Ralph Court, Town of Niagara,
    who was driving alone.
    Thomas F. Welch, 19, of
    1099 Smith St., Buffalo.
    Roger W. Cowder, 17, Roosevelt
    Beach, Wilson.
    Janice Marilyn Barry, 16, oi
    Lake Road, Ransomville.
    State police were called to
    the scene shortly before 1
    a.m.
    Swerved to Left
    Police said the Luzak vehicle
    was southbound in River
    Road about a mile north of
    Pletcher Road when it failed
    to make a curve, swerved into,
    the left lane and piled into
    the oncoming car carrying
    the three youngsters.
    Police said the Welch youth
    was driving the second car.
    He was also listed as the
    owner.
    The sound of the impact
    brought several nearby residents
    to the scene.
    One witness said it was the
    only two-car crash she could
    remember in the area.
    Scene of Accidents
    This winding section of
    River Road has been the
    scene.of several one-car accidents
    and several lives have
    been lost as a result of these
    s.mashups, mostly c r a s h es
    against trees.
    A 35-mile limit is posted for
    the five-mile stretch between
    Lewiston and Youngstown.
    Police said the damage done
    to the two vehicles indicated
    excessive rates of speed.
    An observer told the Gazette
    the car carrying the
    teen-agers was traveling at a
    high rate of speed and the
    other was moving at a normal
    pace.
    Victim Imprisoned
    Douglas Wagner of Youngstown,
    owner of a collision
    shop, was called by police to
    help extricate Luzak.
    Mr. Wagner said he had to
    cut through the door post and
    back of the car seat with a
    torch to remove the victim.
    He said the operation took
    about 15 minutes.
    The shoe of one of the victims
    was imbedded in the
    twisted remains of the dash
    and floorboard.
    The death vehicles were
    towed to Youngstown and left
    at Wagner's and Kulak's auto
    wrecking service.
    The .cars drew several curiosity
    seekers this morning.
    Shuns Road
    A youth peered into one of
    the cars and examined the
    piles of shattered glass and
    broken metal. He turned to a
    reporter and said:
    "I never take that road
    home anymore."
    Lewiston and Youngstown
    ambulance teams took the
    four victims to Memorial Hospital
    in Niagara Falls.
    Investigator R a l p h Fuller

    headed the state police investigating
    team.
    They were aided by Frank
    Wasco of the Lewiston Village
    police and Constable Steven
    Sarkozy of the Town of Niagara.
    Oxygen was given some of
    the victims by first-aid teams.

    The Niagara County Sher-
    Iff's Department said the fatality
    toll rose to 20 as a result
    of the accident. The figure
    is for fatal crashes on"
    county highways outside the",,
    three cities.
    Miss Barry was a cheerleader
    and a member of the
    Yorkers Club at Wilson Cen*
    trab School. She was a senior.
    A friend of Janice said "she
    was a very pretty girl and a
    good student. She had red
    hair and freckles."
    Janice is survived by her

    Dennis B. Luzak, 77, of Gasport, NY passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 4, 1946 he was the son of the late John S. and Lottie M. (Mietlicki) Luzak Sr. Dennis enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family farm with his family and friends.


    He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Dominski) Luzak; sons, Dennis (Bridget) Luzak Jr. and Robert Luzak; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Ronald Luzak. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, John S. Luzak Jr., Gerald Luzak, Robert Luzak, Richard Luzak, and Larry Luzak; sisters, Linda J. Davis, and Diane Luzak.


    There is NO PRIOR visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
    She is survived by her husband, Eric Davis; children, Duane D.(Amanda) Bennett Jr., Henry F. Spoon Jr., Richard (Barb) Davis, Craig S.(Tina) Davis and Denise D. Bennett; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Barbara) Luzak and Ronald Luzak. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
