    LEWISTON — Arthur A. Schroeder, 76, of Lewiston, NY, died April 3, 2011, at his residence, under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice.

    Born in Colden, NY on May 3, 1934 to Roland and Evelyn (Anderson) Schroeder, he was a graduate from Trott Vocational School, Niagara Falls, in 1952.

    Art enlisted in the US Army in September 1955 and was Honorably Discharged in March 1957. On June 28, 1958, Art was married to Joan (Grambo) Schroeder and moved to Lewiston in 1969. He worked as a Tool & Dye maker for the Tulip Corp., Niagara Falls, for 30 years and also worked for the Felton Machine, Town of Wheatfield, for 10 years. Art was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, Lewiston, the Lower Niagara Moose Lodge #584, Lewiston, and enjoyed reading, music, bowling and golfing, where he recently scored a hole-in-one at the Newfane Par 3.

    In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by two daughters, Carole Schroeder (Gary Ferenc) of Lewiston, Nancy (Edward) Gadarowski of Cambridge, NY; two grandchildren, Mary Beth and Emily Gadarowski; four sisters, Marie (late Richard) Marshall of Ransomville, Betty (late Milton) Holland of Hilton, NY, Caroline (late Ward) Knight, Jane Schroeder, both of Niagara Falls; eight brothers, Roald (Dorothy) of Sun City, CA, Robert (Briget) of Lewiston, Timothy (Maria) of the Philippines, James (Joyce) of Charlottesville, VA, David (Jackie), George (Linda), Thomas (Jean) and Peter (Pat) Schroeder, all of Niagara Falls; also several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Fred) Gutekunst of Myrtle Beach, SC, and his two pet granddogs, Bailey and Tessie.

    Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston, Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Thursday (April 7), at 11:00 AM, from the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, with Rev. Thomas Mason and Rev. Milan Slahor officiating. Burial in Dickersonville Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O.     PETER'S OBITUARY

    Peter Jonathan Schroeder, aged 75 of Amherst, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away suddenly on March  4, 2024.  

    Pete was born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 10, 1948 to the late Roland and Evelyn Schroeder.  He was the youngest of 13.

    Peter was employed by Slipko grocery for 20+ years before working for Felton Machine.  He was a huge car enthusiast and very active in St. James United Methodist Church.  Pete was loved by all who knew him, especially his nieces and nephews.  His brother Tim said “He was a gentle, innocent guy.”  He will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers at Felton.

    He is survived by his only grandchild Joseph Clunie, 9 and Joey’s father Joe; Brothers Timothy (Maria) of the Philippines; George (Linda), James (Joyce) of Virginia and Thomas (Jean) of North Tonawanda.  Sisters Marie (late Richard) Marshall, Caroline (late Ward) Knight, and Jane Schroeder.  Also many nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by his wife Patricia, daughter Gretchen and her unborn child, Nathan, sister Elizabeth Holland, brothers Roald (Dorothy), Arthur (Joan) and David (Jacqueline) and Milton.

    Visitation Friday from 4-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Friday from 4-7 PM.  A memorial service will be held Saturday 11 AM in St. James United Methodist Church, 4661 Porter Road, Niagara Falls, New York 14305.  Contributions may be made to St. James.  .

    David Schroeder Obituary

    David Charles Schroeder, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Born January 19, 1936 in Springville, NY, to the late Roland and Evelyn (Anderson) Schroeder.


    David entered the United States Army on August 12, 1959 and he was honorably discharged as a PFC on August 11, 1961.


    David was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Fallon) Schroeder, and the devoted father to John (Nancy Scofield) and Matthew (Carreen).


    He is survived by his sisters, Marie (late Richard) Marshall, Caroline (late Ward) Knight, and Jane; brothers, George (Linda Adamczyk), Timothy (Maria), Robert (Bridget), James (Joyce), Thomas (Jean), and Peter (late Patricia); his three loving grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one sister and two brothers.


    A Celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, December 14th from 12-2PM at Zajac Funeral Home Inc. 319 24th Street cor. of Welch Ave. Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services with military honors will begin at 2PM, with Pastor David Ellis officiating. A private inurnment will be held later.

    YOUNGSTOWN — Suzanne R. "Sue" (Burt) Janik, 57 years old, of Youngstown, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 23, 1954 in Niagara Falls, the daughter of Caroline (Schroeder) and the late Frederick Burt. "Sue," as she was affectionately called, attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.

    On January 19, 1980, Sue married Peter Janik at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. Everyone will remember Sue for her unique laugh. She was recently employed as a clerk at the Village Bake Shoppe in Lewiston.

    In addition to her mother, Caroline (Schroeder) Knight, she is also survived by her husband of 32 years, Peter Janik; her daughter, Laura Janik of Brooklyn, NY; and her son, Matthew Janik of Youngstown. She is survived by her sisters, Cindy (Alan) Lusk of Youngstown, Wendy (Gerry) Laprade of Levittown, PA, and Carolyn (Paul) Davis of Niagara Falls; and her brothers, Kenneth (Cathy) Knight of Grand Island, John (Claudia) Knight of Niagara Falls, and William (Marcy) Knight of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; her father and mother-in-law, Matthew and Barbara Janik; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Kathy Janik, Kevin and Ann Janik, MaryJo and Tom Tartaglia and Cheryl and Paul Bombalicky. Sue was predeceased by her father, Frederick Burt, who passed away in 1964; and her second father, Ward Knight, who passed away in 1999. She was also predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Knight and her mother-in-law, Freida Janik.

    Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 until 8 PM at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 356 Portage Road. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18th at Cleveland Avenue, with Rev. David C. Hoecker officiating. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bergholtz. Memorial contributions may be made to the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
