Coastguardsmen from the Buffalo
station are grappling ln the upper
Niagara river today for the body of
Gerald Band, 12-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Band, 36 Perkins
place, Buffalo, and a native of
this city, who was drowned yesterday
afternoon when he fell off the
breakwall along the river's edge at
Porter avenue. Buffalo, while fishing
with two companions.
The Band boy was reported to
have been fishing from the breakwall
when he stumbled on a stone,
lost his balance and fell into the
river. His two young companions
shouted the alarm and the coastguard
station was notified. A big
patrol boat and a rescue craft sped
to the scene and began grappling
for the lad.
Surviving the boy are his parents;
one sister. Jeanette; four brothers,
Robert, Richard. Francis and Frederick,
all of Buffalo, and his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. William Band,
of this city. The lad's parents lived
In Fifty-sixth street, this city, until
three years ago, and Donald was
born here. A number of relatives,
both on his father's and mother's
side, reside ln Niagara Falls, Recently
for a short time his father
was employed at the Gazette office
as a stereotyper.

YOUNGSTOWN — Denise G. Canfield, age 58, of Youngstown , died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after being stricken at home. Denise was born on February 17, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of Joyce Rae (Raybon) Band Gall of Ransomville and the late Robert A. Band.

She was a 1971 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. Denise had worked for a time at Sabre Saw in Niagara Falls, at Frontier Bowling Alley and as a waitress at Apple Granny in Lewiston. She enjoyed gardening, camping at Allegheny State Park, jig saw puzzles, and visiting with her grandchildren and her family.

In addition to her mother, Denise is survived by her children, Patricia "Tricia" (Jason) Gibbs of Lewiston and Paul (Toni) Canfield of Niagara Falls; her grandchildren, Austin and Sarah Gibbs, Cole, Kyle, and Chase Canfield; a sister, Donna Fallesen (Dave Gombert); a brother, Robert A. Band of Youngstown; her special friend and longtime companion, Dave Guyette; her former husband, Chris Canfield and his wife, Denise's longtime friend, Sue Canfield; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by a sister, Carol Band; and her step-father, William H. Gall.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, on Saturday, September 3rd from 1-2 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home with the Rev. Denny Webb officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Robert A. "Bob" Band, Jr., age 57 of Youngstown NY, died Sunday November 26, 2017 in the Buffalo General Medical Center after a long illness.
Bob was born February 25, 1960 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Robert A. Sr. and Joyce (Raybon) Band Gaul. He was a 1978 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School and had been employed as a Nursing Assistant by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for 10 years.
He was a former member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1. He loved camping in Alleghany State Park and his pet dogs.
He is survived by two sons, Robert A. (Nikita) Band, III and Ryan Band both of Youngstown; a grandson, Robert A. Band, IV; a sister, Donna Fallesen of Youngstown, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Denise Canfield and Carol P. Band.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 9, at 12:00 Noon in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating.
