1953. in Columbus Hospital, Buf
falo. after a brief illness. She was
a lifelong resident of Tonawanda
and a member of St. Francis
Church, the Altar and Rosary Societies
of the church and the Ladies
of Charity. She was the widow
of the late George W. Bacon. She
is survived by a daughter, Miss
Josephine C. Bacon; two sons, William
G. Sr. and George A. Sr.; 8
grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren, all of Tonawanda.
Friends may call at the residence
of the son, George A. Bacon Sr., 96
Scott St., Tonawanda, where ser-
vices will be Monday morning at
10:30 o'clock and at 11 o'clock in
St. Francis Church. A requiem high
mass will be celebrated by the
Rev. Francis Trapp. Burial in Mt.
Oliver Cemetery.

in Kenmore Mercy Hospital
after a long illness. A lifelong
resident of Tonawanda, she was
employed by the former Spillman
Engineering Corp. more
than 25 years. She is survived
by two brothers, William G. and
George A. Bacon, both of Tonawanda,
and several nieces and
nephews. She was a member of
St Francis of Assisi Church,
Catholic Daughters of America,
Altar Society, Bishop's Committee,
Ladies of Charity and the
Kenmore Mercy Hospital Guild.
Friends may call at Hamp Funeral
Home Inc., Adam and Seymour
Streets, Tonawanda, where
prayers will be said at 8:30 Saturday
morning, followed by a
Requiem High Mass in St Francis
of Assisi Church at 9 am.

William G. Bacon "Sr., 78, of 231
Canton St., Tonawanda, an engineer
for the Great Lakes Towing Co. for 52
years, died yesterday at DeGraff
Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Bacon was a member of the
Licensed Tugmen's Protective
Association and St. Francis of Assisi
Church and a charter member of its
Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred;
a daughter, Mrs. Robert Giuseppetti of
North Tonawanda; two sons, William
G. Bacon Jr. of the Town of
Tonawanda and Robert J. Bacon of
Tonawanda; 12 grandchildren, and a
brother George A. Bacon of
Tonawanda.
Services will be conducted at the
Brunner Funeral Home, North
Tonawanda, at 9 a.m. Thursday,
followed by a Mass of the Resurrection
at 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi
Church. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m.
Friday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town
of Tonawanda.

Born in Tonawanda, NY on August 29, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George and Beatrice Bacon. She was a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi School and Mount St. Mary Academy and was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was active in the Lioness Club of the Tonawanda's, DeGraff Hospital Auxiliary and the Riviera Theatre, where she volunteered for many years and served on the Board of Directors. She was married on September 1, 1945 to Duane A Townsend, Sr., who passed away in September 1994. Loving mother of Nancy (Charles Bachman) and Duane Jr. (Christine); beloved grandmother of Victoria Rowley (Jason), Kevin and Amanda Townsend; sister of John W. Bacon, Veronica Wilbar and a late Margaret Asbury and George Bacon, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and her dear friends, Joan Miller and Elmer Nilts. The family will be present at the Hillard Creasey Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-8 PM. BACON - John W., Sr. “Jack” Age 83 of the City of Tonawanda, February 8, 2021. He is survived by his long time loving sweatheart Susanne (nee Miller) Tranter, father of John W. (Laurie) Bacon, Jr., Jill (Bruce) Spira and Joseph N. (Robin) Bacon, grandfather of Jaelle, Nicholas G. and Pearl Bacon and great-grandfather of Raelyn Bacon, son of the late George A. Sr. and Beatrice (nee Vigrass) Bacon, brother of Veronica (late Wendell) Wilbar and the late Margaret (late Daniel) Asbury, Bernice (late Duane) Townsend and George (late Lois) Bacon, Jr. Also many nieces and nephews. Jack was a 1955 graduate of Tonawanda High School and was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving on the USS Saratoga and on the USS Intrepid. Jack was a talented cabinet maker who built organs and boats in his career and his carpentry was evident in reconstructing his home. His career also included working as Maintenance Superintendent at the Tonawanda Housing Authority retiring in 2000. Jack was also a prominent musician who began playing drums at a young age. He was part of the WNY music scene and a bandleader, founding the Morgan Street Stompers Dixieland Band. He and his band played music at all sorts of venues for friends and followers. Jack was a member of Tonawandas’ Post 264 American Legion National Championship Band since the 1960’s and was a Charter member of the Clown Band. He was also a member of the Grandfather’s Band, Cheektowaga Senior Citizens Band, Queen City Jazz Society and the American Federation of Musicians Local 209. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 12th at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 150 Broad Street in Tonawanda. Burial will be in Whitehaven Cemetery, Grand Island immediate following the Funeral Mass. Please be mindful that face coverings and social distancing will be required.
