Louis Zeiger. Sr., died at his residence on
Falls street, Wednesday morning, Oct 26,
1887. in the sixty-eighth year of age.
Mr. Zelger was born in Bischheim near
Kirchbeimbolanden, Rheinpfalz Baiern,
Germany, January 4th; 1820. In 1845
he' was married .and in the spring of
1848. left Germany, for this country, arriving
hero April 20. In connection with his father
he purchased a farm at La Salle, fifty
two acres being his portion. This, land
he cultivated until 1866, when he came into
the village and opened a grocery On Main
street, in the building now occupied by A.
Simon. In 1869 he returned to his farm
and remained till 1881, when he a second
time established a grocery business in the Utz
block on Falls street. He very soon after
purchased the property adjoining the Utz
building on the east, and a few years later
completed the building now known as Zei-
ger's Hotel. About ten years ago he suffered a
severe attack of dropsy, followed by abcess
ot the liver, from the effects of which he
never fully recovered, although, aided by his
son, he has been able to carry on his business.
On-Friday last he caught a very
severe cold and during a fit of coughing
he ruptured a blood vessel near his
lungs. He passed a very comfortable day
yesterday, and last evening felt that he was
improving.- Early this morning-his-throat
and lungs seemed to be filling up and at 7:15
he passed quitely away. He leaves a widow,
three sons and four daughters, all
grown up besides a large circle of friends to
mourn his loss The funeral service will
be held from the family residence on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Philip Zeiger of La Salle, brother of
L. Zeiger, sixty-three years of ago, was
drowned at La Salle Saturday evening.
Mr. Zeiger resided on a farm a short
distance, this side of La Salle. About
three years ago while riding in a wagon
he was thrown out backward, by the
tipping of a seat. and.striking on his
head, received injuries which seriously
effected his memory. It was his habit
to take long walks, and Saturday morning
lie started out, going first to La
Salle, then" to Suspension Bridge, Pletcher
Corners and, Lewiston, returning to
La Salle some time in the evening. One
of Mr. Zeiger's son's-in-law is engaged
in building a ltfjdgc across Cayuga
Creek, and it is supposed thnt he went
on to the bridge, and either walked off
or .sitting down, dropped to sleep from
fatigue, and fell off. He was first miss-
ed Saturday afternoon, and traced over
the route mentioned above. After it
was found he had retuned to LaSalle,
search was made in the creek and his
body recovered early Sunday morning.
Coroner Eisheimer held an inquest Mon-
day.

Frederick Zeiger died at his home on the
River road this morning of dropsy. He
was bom in Germany in 1825 making him
68 years old. He came to this city
when a mere lad and has resided here ever
since.
Besides a wife and four children. three.
brothers, Daniel, Charles and Frank of Ihls
city, and three sisters. Mrs Binkley, Mrs.
Schomock of LaSalle, and Mrs. Uhl of Wisconsin mourn his loss. He was a member
of several German societies. The funeral
will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Jacob Zeiger died at his home at Suspension
Bridge on Saturday last. He was born
in Bavaria in 1827. In 1848 his father
brought his family to this, country and came
direct to Suspension Bridge. In 1848 Jacob
Zeiger was married to Mary Wagner, who
survives him as do also five sons and two
daughters. The deceased had been in the
employment of the N. Y. C. Railroad at
the Bridge for over 20 years, and was a
prominent member of the German-American
Association. The funeral was held from
the German Lutheran Church, Suspension
Bridge, yesterday afternoon.

Zeiger, Daniel, was born in Germany in 1845, a son of Louis Zeiger, who immigrated with his family to America in 1848. settling at Niagara Falls, N. Y. Daniel Zeiger was educated in the public schools at Niagara Falls, and worked on his father's farm until eighteen years of age, when he removed to Buffalo to learn the carpenter's trade, and later to La Salle. In 1885 he returned to Niagara Falls and is still engaged at his trade, hesides being proprietor of a grocery and provision store, which he established in 1887. Mr. Zeiger was elected supervisor of the Third ward of the city of Niagara Falls in 1896, and is a member of the A. O. U. W. In 1871 he married Frederica Chormann.

At 2:30 o'clock this afternoon the
funeral of the late Daniel Zeiger was
held from the family home No. 1625 .Main
Street and later from the German
Zion's Lutheran Church. There was
a large attendance of mourners at
the home and at the chinch to pay
their last tribute of respect to their
dead friend and sympathy to the surviving
family and relatives. Members
of Carpenters and Joiners' Union; and
International Lodge No. 6 A. O: U. W.
of which the'deceased was a member
ittended and the Council of the German-
Zion's Lutheran church on which
the deceased had served for 32 years
attended in a body
The services at the church were
beautiful and Impressive and were
condueted by the pastor, Lev. F. R.
Hoffmann. The floral tribute was largy
and beautiful and the interment was
made in Oakwood cemetery.

Charles Zeiger attended the public schools at La Salle until 1856, when his parents removed to Niagara Falls, where his father entered business as a grocery and liquor dealer. In 1864 his father established the present hotel and restaurant which Charles Zeiger operates as Zeiger's Hotel. He is thrifty and prosperous and enjoys the high esteem of all who know him.

Mrs. Mary, wife of John Williams died
Sunday Morning, May 1st,. aged thirty-eight years.
Mary Zeiger-Williams was bonn in La-
Salle, and has always been a resident of this
town, and a greater portion of her life of
this village. In 1872 she was married to Mr.
J. Williams, and has proven an affectionate
wife and loving mother. For the past two or
three years she has been suffering from ill
health, but her health was improving and
her ultimate recovery was believed certain.
Saturday she was about her accustomed duties
and retired at her usual hour with the
remark that she had not felt better in a long
time. Sunday morning about six o'clock
Mr. Williams observed that.her breathing
was somewhat labored, but thinking her
asleep did not attempt to arouse her. One
hour later he again awoke to find that she
had passed away without a struggle. The
physicians pronounce the immediate cause
of her'death a difficulty with the heart caused
by her disease. Her life has always been
one worthy of emultation, and she leaves to
sincerely mourn her loss a husband, son and
daughter, father and mother, three brothers
and four sisters besides a host of friends.
The funeral will be observed from St. Peter's
Church this afternoon.

member of one of the pioneer families
of Niagara Falls, died yesterday at the
family home. 1115 Ferry avenue. She
was highly respected and much beloved
by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances,
who will mourn her death.
Miss Zeiger was born In the town of
Nlsgar or. March 21, 1852. Later she
moved to this city, where she had resided
ever since. She is survived by
one sister. Louisa Zeiger: one brother,
former City Treasurer Frank Zeiger.
and one cousin. Helnrich Uhl. She was
a daughter of the late Louis Zeiger.
who settled in western New York in
1847.
For the last seven years of her life
Miss Zeiger had been totally blind.
She studied and mastered, however, -tha
art of reading by means of raised letters,
which is the language of the
blind, and read much, keeping well i n formed
She also bravely overcame
her affliction to the extent of attending
to many household duties. Never
once did she utter a complaint despite
the affliction of blindness and always
she bore her lot with a cheerfulness and
fortitude which endeared her to all her
friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be held from
the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Louis Zeiger died at hls home at
No. 645 Fourth street yesterday after-
noon at 2 o'clock after a lingering ill-
ness. Mr. Zeiger was born at LaSalle,
August 19. 1856. After spending hls
early boyhood days there he removed
to this city where he resided up to the'
time of his death. He was a member-
of the Niagara Frontier Lodge No.
132 , F. & A. M., and also a member.
of the Woodmen of the World. He
was a director of the Niagara Per-
manent Savings and Loan Association
since its founding having acted in the;
capacity of treasurer for a number of
years.
Besides his wife, Mr. Zeiger is surviv-
ed by one daughter. Marie, one.
brother, Frank, and three sisters, Mrs.
Adam Mattern, Mlss Elizabeth and
Miss Louisa all o f t h l s city. Mr. Zeig-
er's unmarried sisters arrived from
Germany this morning where they had
been visiting for several months. The
steamer on which they returned from
Europe was held outside Sandy Hook
for a day, or.they would have reached
home before he died.
The funeral will be held tomorrow
afternoon at 3 o'clock from the family
residence. No. 654 Fourth street.
The Masonic Fraternity will be In
charge of the services and all mem-
bers of the Niagara Frontier Lodge
are requested to meet At the Masonic :

yesterday afternoon at her home,
1409 Whirlpool street, a victim of
heart disease. She had been in ill
health for more than a year. Miss
Zeiger was 64 years old and a life-

A daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Zeiger. old pioneer resi-
dents of the north end section of the
city. Miss Zeiger was born and had
always lived in the house In which
she died. She was a charter mem-
ber of the Martha society of the
Zion Evangelical Lutheran church
and-was a member of the congregation
of that house of worship. She
was also a charter member of Flagler
chapter. Order of the Eastern
Star. She Is survived by a brother,

La Salle, May 24.-Mrs. Anna
Elizabeth Albright passed away yesterday
morning at threo o'clock, at
her homo on tho Buffalo-Falls boulevard,
following a fortnight's illness.
She was the daughter of tho late Mr.
and Mrs. Uriah Binkley, pioneer
residents of Niagara township, and
was born in the old Binkley home-
stead, not far distant from her late
home, in 1864. She was an active and
conscientious worker in the congre-
gation of St. Stephen's Episcopal mis-
sion, and her loss will be mourned by
a wide circle of friends.
Surviving are seven brothers an d
one sister, David Binkley of Niagara
Falls, and Herman, John, Uriah, Wal-
ter, Daniel, Wileder and Kate Bink-
let, all of La Salle. The funeral
service will be conducted tomorrow,
(Thursday), afternoon at two o'clock,
by the Rev. Charles h. Burton of
Niagara Falls, and interment will be
in Riverdale cemetery, that city.

Mr. Binkley died Tuesday after a long Illness.He had been prominent for many years in political and business circles in the Niagara area.

Fred Hildebrandt Claimed By Death Fred Hildebrandt, 78 years old,well know resident of North Tonawanda for many years, died suddenly last night of a heart attack at his home, 201 Wheatfield.Born in Germany, Mr. Hildebrandt came to America at the age of five. For the past 50 years he lived in North Tonawanda. As a Democrat he was elected to two terms as an alderman and later was elected supervisor for a period of six years. He served as an alderman from the second ward from 1908 to 1912 inclusive. Elected supervisor in the same ward in the fall of 1915 he served in that capacity from 1916 to 1922 inclusive.He was a building contractor for many years and conducted a grocery store here for 13 years.He leaves a wife, Margaret;two sons, Frederick G. and Louis H.; a daughter, Emma; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the residence. Rev. John H. Sprock will conduct the services and burial will be in Acacia Park.

Mary L. Norman 95 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls on March 27, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Monte McArthur and Martha Elsie (Zieger) Beahen. Mary worked the "victory shift" from 4-9PM at Shredded Wheat while attending Trott. In 1945 she started working at Carborundum, before getting married in 1946 in Erie PA, and then worked as an office worker for Hooker/Oxy. After her son Gary was born, she worked at Fannie Farmer and had a night job at Neisners. When her mother got sick, she moved back home to take care of her, and ran a boarding house that at one time had 27 boarders. After the boarding house she went to work at National Carbon, until she had her daughter Deb. She started working again at Carborundum, before she had her son Ricky. After all the kids were older Mary kept busy with multiple jobs including a teletype operator, teacher, teacher's aide, cashier, and finally a bartender at the VFW until she retired. She is survived her daughters, Deborah (Edward) Battaglia, Tina (Robert) Reynolds and Luann Miller; sons, Douglas Norman, and John Donavon; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sons, Gary (Peggy) Norman, and Ricky Norman; brothers, Montie (Jean) Beahen, Philip George (Collette) Beahen, and Thomas (Peggy) Beahen; and sisters, Irene (Anthoni) Gabrielli, and Betty (John) Hotchkiss.Friends may call on Tuesday, May 24 from 4-7PM at Zajac Funeral Home Inc., 319 24th Street cor. of Welch Ave, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will begin at 6:30PM. NIAGARA FALLS — Thomas W. Beahen, 80, passed away suddenly on March 31, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Monte and Martha Beahen. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Peggy Ann Beahen (nee Holt) in 2006. He was predeceased by siblings, Philip Beahen, Monte "Bud" Beahen, Rene Gabrielle and Betty Hotchkiss.

Tom is survived by his children, Thomas W. Beahen, Jr. (Barbara), Timothy J. Beahen (Sharon) and Martha "Marty" Beahen-Templeton; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Norman and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. Tom served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving as an electrician aboard the USS San Pablo and the USS Briareus, until his honorable discharge. Tom received the National Defense Service Medal for his service. Following his discharge he worked for N.Y. Telephone Company-Verizon until his retirement, starting as a lineman and working his way up to supervisory positions.

Tom enjoyed tending the old family farm in Virginia. He was a member of Niagara LaSalle Lodge 132 F & A. M. in Niagara Falls, NY. He loved reading, playing chess and was an avid sportsman. Tom loved fishing, boating, canoeing, riding his 4-wheeler, woodworking and keeping up the house. One of his favorite pastimes was taking photos of the beautiful scenery along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.

No services will be held. He will be interred at the Teel Family Cemetery in Bent Mountain, VA, at the family's convenience.

Born Ruth Binkley in Niagara Falls, she died Feb. 23 at the home of a daughter, Lynn Fischer, in East Aurora, after a short battle with cancer. She was 84.

She was a graduate of LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls and attended Michigan State University. She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Arthurs, also a student at Michigan State.

After college, the couple lived in the Cleveland area, most of the time in the suburb of Solon, where their nine children were born and raised.

She was an active member of Valley Lutheran Church in Chagrin Falls and Our Redeemed Lutheran Church in Solon, where she was a Sunday school teacher and played the organ. She also directed and sang in the church's choirs.

Mrs. Arthurs and her husband had lived for the last three years with their daughter in East Aurora.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years; two other daughters, Kim Gallagher of Kent, OH, and Gail of Orchard Park; five sons, Lee of Big Canoe, Ga., Jay of Saratoga, Calif., Bruce of Pleasanton, Calif., Kent of Stretsboro, OH, and Paul of Mountain Ranch, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

NIAGARA FALLS — Marjorie Aileen Say, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, died this day, Wednesday, October 31, 2012. She was born November 12, 1922 to William and Myrtle Davey, and was the wife of Harold (Barney) Say for over 62 years, who predeceased her in May 2001.

Survivors include four daughters, Gail (Munir) Katul of Oregon; Terry (Moktar) Kourda of California; and locally, Barbara (William) Mann and Kyle (Mark) Feldhousen. Marjorie is revered as "NANA" by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two dear sisters, Judy Turco and Susan (George) Cruickshank. She was predeceased by a brother, William Sexton; sisters, Carol Rowles, Marilyn (Louis) Scolase and Eldeen (Louis) Jacus.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 7-9 PM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Avenue and Washburn Street, Lockport, with dear friend and Pastor, Duane Priset, who will preside at the service for Death and Resurrection, including Holy Communion on Monday at 11 AM. Following the church service for the celebration of her life, graveside services will be held at Riverdale Cemetery. The family will be sharing a meal with family and friends at the church, provided by the United Methodist Women of the parish following interment. In lieu of flowers, donations to Emmanuel United Methodist Church or to Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing Home will be gratefully appreciated by the family.

Carol Binkley Rowles passed away peacefully at home in Fresno, CA on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 27, 1937 to Myrtle and Ralph Binkley in Niagara Falls, NY, where she attended Pacific Avenue Elementary and LaSalle High School. Carol devoted her life to her family and moved with them to Fresno in 1977. She was strong, resourceful, warm and funny! In addition to spending time with her children and grandchildren, Carol loved to restore and improve homes she lived in and to find bargains at yard sales. She will be missed by her loving family and many friends, but always remembered with a smile. Carol was predeceased by her parents; sons, Michael, Willard Dell (Judy) and sister, Marilyn Scolase (Louis). She is survived by sons, William (Anne), Robert, Randall (Trea) and a daughter, Karey (James) Tobias, all living in California; as well as son, Ronald (Susan) in Western NY. NIAGARA FALLS -
Donald J. Insalaco, 88 years old, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May10th while at home. He was born in Niagara Falls, the son of Charles and Helen (Binkley) Insalaco.
He was self-employed as a watchmaker for many years after learning his trade at Bradley University's School of Horology. His friendliness, expertise and work ethic later lead him through several management positions at Reeds Jewelers where he enjoyed a career of 29 years. A Bronze Star Medal was earned while serving his country honorably during WWII. Hobbies took over after retirement, including fixing anything, hand-crafting clocks, hand built tools, and woodworking. Then came the computer and his curiosity was endless. His computer skills were amazing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
He is survived by his children, Donald (Claudia) Insalaco of Marysville, MI, Michael (Sissy) Insalaco of Niagara Falls, Karen (Brian) Kephart of Erie, CO; grandchildren, Brett, Michael, John, LeeAnne, Daniel, Lauren; and three great-granddaughters; one sister, Marylou Braun of Pompano, FL; one brother, Charles Insalaco of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister-in-law, Jackalyn Shear of Rochester, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Donald married June D. Shear in 1952. She predeceased him in 1995 after 43 wonderful years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his son, Kevin Insalaco, in 1987; and Meriam Tedesco, his loving companion of ten years.

Steven K. Beahen, Sr, 61, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Select Speciality Hospital in Erie, PA, following a brief illness.  Born on October 25, 1955 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Philip and Marian (Smith) “Smitty” Beahen.  On September 11, 1976, Steven married the former Lynn Hiddie in Lewiston, NY.
Steven was a lifelong area resident, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1973.  He then went on to earn his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Niagara County Community College as well as a certificate in building, estimating and constructing from Erie Community College, North Campus.  Steven began his lifelong construction career working with his father at Smith Brothers Construction.  He then was employed by Laur and Mack Construction and Tri-C Construction.  Most recently, Steven was currently employed as a General Superintendent  for Pinto Construction Services.  He served as Past-President of the Laborers’ Local #91.  Steven’s job was his passion and he was highly respected by his co-workers.
Steven was a member of Community of Christ Church on Lewiston Road and the 3F Club.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.  Steven enjoyed cooking and was an excellent grill chef, horse racing, skeet shooting and spending time at his cabin in the southern tier, Leisurewood campgrounds, Saratoga Race Course and Sarasota, Fl.  Above all, family was everything to Steven and his grandchildren will forever miss their “Papa.”
In addition to his beloved wife of over forty years, Steven is survived by three children, Brandi (Dean) Krassopoulos, Steven (Christine) Beahen, Jr. and Katie (Jacob) Rizzone; five grandchildren, Kaliope and Matthew Krassopoulos, Ellie and Benjamin Rizzone and Natalie Beahen and seven siblings, Philip J. Beahen, Diane Haick, Sherry (Vince) Girardo, Scott Beahen, David (Robin) Beahen, Penny (John) Hepfer and Krisanne (Michael) Ventry.  He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Shirley Hiddie; brother-in-law, Douglas (Carol) Hiddie; sister-in-law, Jackie (Steven) Yousett and several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by one sister, Tracey Ann Beahen and one brother, Kenny Beahen.
Steven’s family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara.  Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, April 12th at 11:00 a.m. which will be celebrated in Community of Christ Church, 5235 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, NY, with Rev. Richard James officiating.  EVERYONE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH.  Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

Howard L. "Bink" Binkley, an employee of Buffalo Abrasives and a former production control manager for National Grinding Wheel, died Sunday (Sept. 14, 1997) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after an apparent heart attack.
Binkley, 52, of North Tonawanda, was a native of Niagara Falls.
He worked as a production control manager for National Grinding Wheel for 28 years. For the past nine years, he had worked for Buffalo Abrasives of North Tonawanda.
He was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and had been a member of its male choir.
Binkley is survived by his wife, the former Karen Camann; his parents, Howard and Ruth of North Tonawanda; three daughters, Nicole Cutter of Pendleton and Kim and Karrie, both of North Tonawanda; three brothers, Gary, Jeffrey and Mark; and two sisters, Lynne Hummel and Kathy Gibson, all of North Tonawanda.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 875 Eggert Drive, North Tonawanda. Burial will be in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield

She enjoyed art and was known for the custom shirts, sweatshirts and blankets she made for family members.  Linda was an avid reader and had a keen sense of humor...she loved to tease her family and friends.
