Obituary of Sybil G. Balcom
Sybil G. Balcom (Nee Brenchley), age 95, of Youngstown entered into rest on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital of Lewiston, NY. Sybil was born on October 5, 1926, in Niagara Falls, NY. She is the daughter of the late Albert S. and the late Edith Anne (Steer) Brenchley. Sybil attended the Lewiston red brick school and also the Kelly Business School. She married Loren Balcom in 1947, he predeceased her in 1999.Sybil was employed in many other different positions including as a substitute aid at Lew-Port Schools. She also worked as a senior companion, also as a private secretary for Assemblyman Sumner Carroll. Sybil enjoyed traveling, playing cards, gardening, volunteering at ArtPark, she was an avid walker, also a Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan.She is survived by four sons Kevin (Diane) Balcom of Youngstown, Robin S. Balcom of Corning, NY, Loren (Barbara) Balcom of Franklinville and Daryl (Lisa) Balcom of Silvercreek; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister.Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 17th from 3-7 PM at Hardison Funeral Homes Inc., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, November 18th in the funeral homes with Rev. Paul Stolzenburg officiating. Renee Anne Rogers, 45, of Lewiston, NY passed away at the Niagara Hospice House on September 16, 2024 with her loving husband Daniel J Rogers by her side. She was born in Lewiston, NY on November 30, 1978, to Kevin and Diane (nee MacKellar) Balcom.Renee grew up in Youngtown, NY and was a 1996 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. She attended SUNY Fredonia and graduated with a BA in Accounting in 2000. She was employed at Deltek ComputerEase as an accounting software support trainer for 20+ years. In 2002, Renee met and fell in love with Dan, and they were married in September 2007. Renee adored children and was a loving stepmother to Amanda and Victoria and mother to Alison and Eric. Renee was an avid Bills fan and also loved playing volleyball, waterskiing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.Renee is survived by her husband Dan and their children Amanda (Steve Davis), Victoria, Alison and Eric, her parents Kevin and Diane Balcom and sister Michele (Frank) Fischer, nieces Sydney and Shannon, nephews Jack, Ryan and Adam, Mother-in-Law Kathleen Dawn Rogers, sister-in-law Karen (Matthew) Karall, grandmother Marlene (Mayville) MacKellar, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.The family will be present on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 3-7 PM at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 401 N. Fourth Street (N. Fourth & Ridge Streets), Lewiston, where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 10 AM. Pastor Paul Stolzenberg officiating. Friends invited. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery.
