    while driving his car in Harlem
    Rd. at Sheridan Drive.

    Erie County Medical Examiner
    James J. Creighton telephoned
    Amherst police and
    reported Mr. Carney suffered
    no apparent injury but that
    the victim had suffered a
    heart attack.
    Carney's auto, veering out
    of control, sped across. Sheridan
    through a red light into
    moving traffic. His car struck
    another v e h i c l e causing
    minor injuries to the occupants.
    Mr. and Mrs. Robert
    Donohue, of Williamsville.
    They were treated in Sisters
    Hospital, Buffalo and released.
    Amherst police said the
    Carney car was northbound
    in Harlem Rd. The light for
    Harlem traffic w a s red and
    traffic in Sheridan was be-
    ginning to move when Carney's
    ato shot into the traffic.
    It came to rest in shrubbery
    along Sheridan Dr .
    Mr. Carney was a lifelong
    resident of this city and was
    employed as a plumber. He
    was a member of St. Francis
    of Assisi Church.
    Survivors include his wife,
    Sophia Balling Carney; two
    sons, James and Jack Carney,
    both of this city; two daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Floyd Meyers,
    Hayes, this city and six
    grandchildren.
    Prayers will be said at
    8:30 a.m. Saturday at the
    Hamp Funeral Home, follow-
    ed by Requiem Mass at 9 in
    St. Francis Church. Burial
    will be in Mt. Oliver Ceme-
    tery.

    prayers will be said at 8:30 a.m.
    Saturday, followed by a Requiem
    High Mass in St. Francis of Assisi
    Church at 9 a.m., the Rev.
    William Yaeger officiating. Burial
    in Mt. Olivet Cemetary.

    James S. Carney, Sr.  of the Town of  Wheatfield, NY,  passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at his home in Sebring, FL.
    He is survived by his beloved wife of  63 years, Margaret M. [Muncil] Carney, his children Grace (Brian Campbell)  Vona , Jamie (Rich) Unkle, James (Heidi) Carney, Kathleen (Daniel) Deer, Pauline Carney, Michael (Christina) Carney and Matt (Kathy) Carney, 20 grandchildren and  11 great grandchildren. Brother in Law-Wade Beam and many nieces and nephews.
    He is the brother of the late Frances Beam, Jack(Sally) Carney, Alta(Floyd) Meyer and father of the late Alan Carney and William Carney.         
    Owner and operated Carney Plumbing and Heating for over 30 years. After retiring from the business, he became Building and plumbing inspector for the Town of Wheatfield.
    He served for many years at Ascension Church and received the St Joseph The Worker award from the Bishop for his exemplary service.
    He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and the church choir.   He also belonged to the Loyal order of the Moose, Avon Park Aeromodelers club, Tanglewood RV club and Caloosa Winnies club.
    A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of his Life will be held at a future date.
    Memorials may be in his name to Good Shepherd Hospice-www.chaptershealth.org/hospice or St Jude Hospital-www.stjude.org
    Interment is at Mt. View Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.

    Jack R. Carney, age 76, of Irving, Texas and Tonawanda, New York, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, New York, after a brief illness. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Spencer and Sophia (nee Balling) Carney and was an Air Force Veteran of the Cold War. He was a resident of Tonawanda until moving to Irving, Texas 25 years ago. Jack earned his BA and MA from the University at Buffalo, his Graduate Certificate in Business at Dartmouth College, and a Masters in Arts and Humanities from the University of Dallas. He was employed at Occidental Chemical in Niagara Falls for more than 25 years and then worked in the IT field before retiring in 2011.

    He is survived by his wife, Sally (nee Bellinger) Carney of Irving, Texas; his daughter, Sarah (Keith) Carney-Sutton of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Courtney Sutton and Alex Sutton, both of Phoenix; and his brother, Jim (Margaret) Carney of Wheatfield, New York. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Alta Meyers and Fran Bean.

    Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Monday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday at St. Francis Chapel, 71 Adam Street, Tonawanda. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to the Dallas Bach Society, PO Box 140201, Dallas, TX 75214, are preferred by the family.
