    LOCKPORT —
    Arnold K. Bane passed away on November 5, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on September 8, 1941 in Yates, NY, he was the son of Howard and Laura (Tanner) Bane and attended Lyndonville schools.
    He served in the Army Reserves from 1960-1963 and from 1963-1966 in active duty in Germany. Arnold worked for Western Block, drove taxi, Benz-O-Matic, and Wal-Mart for 14-1/2 years. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies; and his dog, Sparky.
    Arnold is survived by his wife, Mary (Storms) Bane of Wilson; daughters, Laura Bane and Amy Bane, both of Wilson; grandfather of Cassy Schurr of Lockport, Samantha Schurr, Joshua, Emily and Jonathan Bane, all of Wilson; great-grandfather of Darryle Schurr of Ransomville, Aniyahe Schurr of Lockport, and James Ventura of Wilson; brother of Howard Bane of Barre Center, Robert Bane of Lyndonville, Loretta Lonnen of Waterport, Shirley Bane of Lockport and the late John Tanner, Herbert Bane, and Clara Bane; also several cousins, nieces and nephews.

    Loretta M. Lonnen, age 75, died November 16, 2021 in Strong Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was born December 22, 1945 in Lockport, a daughter of Howard and Laura (Tanner) Bane and was a life-long resident of this area. Loretta enjoyed crocheting and studying genealogy but her real passion was creating and tending to her gardens. Ms. Lonnen was predeceased by siblings: Howard, Arnold, Shirley, Clara and Herbie Bane and John Tanner. She is survived by her 4 sons: Dan (Lisa) Lonnen of Waterport, Alex (Linda) Lonnen of Medina, Brian (Nikki) Lonnen of Carlton, Scott Lonnen of TN, her brother: Bob Bane of Lyndonville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren as well several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, MONDAY from 4-7 pm where her Funeral Service will be held at 7pm following visitation.     LYNDONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -
    Herbert Bane, a 13-year-old orphan,
    was killed Thursday when a
    rifle discharged as he and his
    brother handled it. police said.
    Herbert and his brother. Robert,
    15, were playing with the 22-caliber
    rifle in the home of an uncle,
    Keith Bane, in this Orleans County
    village.
    The boys and their five brothers
    and sisters had been living with
    the uncle since their parents were
    killed in an automobile accident
    near here in 1953, police said.

    LYNDONVILLE - A 13-yearold
    Town of Yates boy, one of
    eight children left without parents
    as the result of an auto accident,
    in 1953, was accidentally
    shot and killed Thursday afternoon
    by his 15-year-old brother.
    Pronounced dead at Medina Memorial
    Hospital was Herbert Bane
    of Marshall Road, Town of Yates,
    about four miles west of here. Dr.
    James Sterling, an Orleans County
    coroner, termed the shooting
    "accidental."
    According to the Orleans County
    Sheriffs Department, the dead
    youth and a brother, Robert, returned
    home on a school bus
    shortly after 4 p.m. After eating,
    they went upstairs to their room.
    Robert, according to deputies, was
    preparing to remove a cartidge
    from a .22 caliber rifle when the
    weapon discharged. The shell
    struck Herbert in the face.
    A sister heard the shot and
    called police.
    Herbert had been living at the
    home of his uncle and grandmother,
    Keith Bane and Mrs. Clara
    Bane, since th e death of his
    parents in 1953. His parents, Mr.
    and Mrs. Howard Bane were killed
    in an Orleans County auto accident.
    The youth was a seventh-grader
    at Lyndonville Central School
    and a member of the Yates Baptist
    Church. He was born in Lockport
    on April 22, 1949.
    Surviving besides his uncle and
    grandmother are three brothers,
    Pfc. Howard Bane of the United
    States Marine Corps, Camp Le-
    jeune, N.C., Pfc. Arnold Bane of

    the United States Army in Germany,
    and Robert Bane; three
    sisters, Miss Clara Bane, Miss
    Loretta Bane and Miss Shirley
    Bane, all at home, and a halfbrother,
    Harold Tanner of Sodus.
    There are also several other aunts
    and uncles.
    Funeral services will be held at
    1 p.m. Sunday from the Smythe
    Funeral Home, Lyndonville. Burial
    will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

    Shirley A. Bane, 68, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
    Born on November 24, 1950 in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Laura May (Tanner) Bane.
    She graduated from Holley Central School in 1969 and attended Gram Junior College in Boston MA. Shirley was employed with the Federal Government in Virginia and that’s where she met and married her former husband Robert Edwards and together they raised two sons. She returned to the Western New York area and worked for various law firms in the area. Shirley enjoyed spending time reconnecting with her family, especially with her granddaughters.
    Shirley is survived by her sons, Aaron (Danielle) Edwards of Lockport NY. Matthew (Zahra Ramdhany) Edwards of Alexandria VA; granddaughters, Mikhayla and Lexi; siblings, Loretta Lonnen of Waterport NY, Robert Bane of Lyndonville NY, Steven Smith of Churchville NY, Scott (Josephine) Smith of Rock Hill SC, Chris (Barb) Smith of Churchville NY and Eric (Janice ) Smith of Spencerport NY. Also survived are many nieces and nephews.
    Besides her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her foster parents, Donald and Nancy Smith, siblings, John Tanner, Clara Bane, Howard Bane, Arnold Bane, and Herbert Bane.
    Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 11AM-1PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Lynhaven Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made in Shirley’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 4955 N Bailey Ave #217, Amherst, NY 14226.
