    Two young Lockport men died
    in the burning wreckage of an
    auto and a third was seriously
    injured at 4:52 a.m. today in a
    two-car collision at West Avenue
    and Ohio Streets, Lockport.
    Pronounced dead at the scene
    by Niagara County Coroner Dr.
    Thomas C. Regan were:
    Richard W. Bartlett, 21, of
    6513 Hatter Road, Newfane, and
    Philip J. Campman, age 22, of
    6763 Minnick Road, Lockport.
    In Lockport Memorial Hospi
    tal is George Apolito, 23, of 437
    Niagara St., Lockport, driver of
    the second car.
    He was reported in serious

    condition with multiple bruises,
    a lacerated left knee and internal
    injuries. He was to undergo
    surgery today.
    Lockport Police this morning
    were unable to determine which
    one of the two dead men was
    driving the car which burned.
    The car was owned by Mr.
    Campman.
    They said that according to
    their investigation, the Apolito
    vehicle was proceeding with the|
    traffic signal north on Ohio
    Street when his car was struck
    on the side by the other car
    which was westbound on West
    Avenue.
    The impact caused the gas
    tank of the Apolito vehicle to be
    torn free spilling gasoline over
    the other vehicle where it ignited.
    The fire was estinguished
    by the Lockport Fire Department
    and their badly burned
    bodies were removed from the
    vehicle.
    The fire department was on
    the scene until 6:30 a.m. today.
    Funeral arrangements for Mr.
    Campman are being made with
    the Beach & Tuyn Funeral
    Home at 5541 Main St., Wil-
    Hamsville. The funeral will be
    held Tuesday with friends re
    ceived at the funeral home tomorrow
    and Monday from 2 to
    4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
    He is survived by his parents,
    Mr. and Mrs. David J. Campman
    of 6763 Minnick Road.
    Lockport; and two sisters, Mrs.

    John P. Lane of 16 Highland
    Ave., Wiliamsville and Mrs.
    Lawrence J. Mitchell of Wellsboro,
    Pa.
    His brother - in - law, John
    Lane, is seeking the supervisors
    post in the Town of Amherst in
    the coming November elections.
    Mr. Campman was a con
    struction worker who was employed,

    by several companies in
    the Lockport area.
    The son of Mr. and Mrs. William
    H. Bartlett of 6513 Hatter
    Road, Newfane, Mr. Barfleff is
    also survived by two brothers,
    Nadin and Duane, and one sister,
    Joanne, all at home; his
    grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William
    Bartlett of Wilson, his
    great grandmother, Mrs. Alma
    Wilson of Utfca; a nephew, Paul
    of Newfane, and several aunts
    and uncles.
    Friends may call at the Rutland
    - Corwin Funeral Home,
    2670 Main St., Newfane, beginning
    at 2 p.m. Sunday.
