 SCRANTON, MARJORIE E. (nee May), age 98 a life long resident of the City of Tonawanda, May 8, 2020. Wife of the late Robert K. Scranton who died in 1974 and very dear friend of the late Frank A. Sciabarrasi who died in 2015, mother of Joanne (Arthur) Madigan and the late Sylvia Hutter and the late Beverly A. (late Joseph) Jowsey, grandmother of Joseph (Teri), Ronald, Anne, Lois (Tom), Margie (Mike), Michelle, Debbie, Roger and the late Randolph and Anne, great grandmother of Michael, Amanda and Michaela, and great great grandmother of Jaelynn and Arya, daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie May, sister of Joan Beringer, David (Marjorie) May, Vivian (late Gordon) Tussing and the late Madalyn (late Robert) Barry, Bessie (late Paul) Schmidt, Harvey May and Mary (late John) Burkholder. Also many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a 1939 graduate of Tonawanda High School and retired from NYS DOT. She was an active member of Salem UCC, the City of Tonawanda Democratic Party, AARP and Tonawanda Senior Bocce League. There will be no prior visitation. A private Prayer Service and burial in Elmlawn Cemetery will be with Marjorie's immediate family. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem UCC, City of Tonawanda. Tussing, Sr. who died in 2018, mother of Judy (Robert) Mitchell, Dr. Gordon (Karen) Tussing, Jr. and Barbara (Keith) Lipps, grandmother of Dustin (Sara) Mitchell, Duncan (Melissa) Mitchell, Victoria (Howard) Margolies, Jennifer Lipps and Timothy (Cherisse) Lipps and great-grandmother of Victoria Mitchell, daughter of the late Harvey A. and Bessie I. May, sister of David (Margie) May and the late Marjorie (late Robert) Scranton, Mary (late John) Burkholder, Madalyn (late Robert Jr.) Barry, Bessie (late Paul) Schmidt, Harvey (late Sylvia) May II_ and Joan (late Dutch) Beringer. Also many nieces and nephews. Vivian was a 1943 graduate of Tonawanda High School. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Church of Christ and an active member of the Tonawanda Senior Citizens. (Karen) Barry and the late Robin Barry; selfless grandmother of Daniel, Kimberly (Ryan), Nicole, Christina (Kevin) and the late Kathryn (Joey); wonderful great-grandmother of Kailee, Ethan, Naomi and Molly; caring sister of Marjorie (Frank Scrabarrasi) Scranton, Mary (late John) Burkholder, Vivian (Gordon) Tussing, David (Marjorie) May, Joan Berringer and the late Bessie (husband Paul) Schmidt and Harvey May; also survived by many nieces and nephews. CITY OF TONAWANDA - Bessie J. (nee May) Schmidt, age 83, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Monday, September 3, 2012. Born in Tonawanda, NY, to the late Harvey A. and Bessie Irene (Bailey) May, Sr., she had been a resident of the City of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life, and was the sister of the late Harvey A. May II. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Tonawanda and the Elk's Social Doe's. Bessie, along with her late husband Ken Jedele, ran Ken's Hot Dog Stand in North Tonawanda, next to the Memorial Pool, from 1957-1977.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Paul A. Schmidt; three step-children, Sally (Jim) Cerroni of Lackawanna, NY, Donald (Rose Arlgrin) Schmidt and David Schmidt, both of the City of Tonawanda; five sisters, Marjorie (Frank Sciabarrasi) Scranton, Mary (late John) Burkholder, Vivian (Gordon) Tussing, and Madeline (late Robert) Barry, all of the City of Tonawanda, and Joan N. Beringer of the Town of Tonawanda; and a brother, David Bruce (Marjorie) May of Port St. Joe, FL; also survived by ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Family will be present on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) City of Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 7th at 1 PM. Friends invited. Rev. Jeremy Lopez will officiate. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.
