    of Philip D. Bechtel. Niagara Falls,
    and sister of Niagara County Welfare
    Commissioner Milton E. Swit-
    zer of Lockport. Mrs. Bechtel was
    a native of the Town of Lewiston
    and had been in poor health for
    several years.
    Other survivors include four sis-
    ters, Miss Isabel L. Switzer and
    Mrs. Fanny Kleinhans of Lockport;
    Mrs. Clyde Armstrong and Mrs. Al-
    len Kobler, both of Niagara Falls;
    and another brother, Charles allen
    Switzer of Niagara Falls. Two
    sons, Philip S. and Charles S., and
    a daughter, Miss Grace A Bechtel,
    all of Niagara Falls, also survive.
    Services will be held at the Grid-
    ley Funeral Home, 750 Main St.,,
    niagara Falls, at 2:30 Monday.

    She was predeceased by : her parents, Philip D. Bechtel and Harriet Switzer Bechtel; her husband Adrian Banks; her daughter Cynthia Banks; her grandson Geoffrey Linderman; and her son-in-law Douglas Linderman.
    She is survived by : her children, Philip Banks (Beth), Susan Linderman, Paula Dahlke (Charles), Christopher Banks (Kristine), Rebecca Schweigert (Richard), George Banks (Donna), Laurette Clark (Michael) and Margaret Ruckdeschel (James); and her siblings-in-law, Mary, Mark Pioli, Irene Banks and Diane Banks. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews.
    A mass will be held on Saturday, February 17th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Brendan's.

    LOCKPORT — James M. Switzer passed away August 10, 2013 in Odd Fellow & Rebekah Rehab & Health Care Center. Born in Lewiston on January 29, 1919, he was the son of Milton and Nellie (Chapman) Switzer. James graduated from Lockport High School, class of 1939, and from Ohio Northern University, class of 1943, with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945, serving in the Pacific Theater of WW II and was a First Sergeant of 648th Engineers in the Philippines. James at one time was Vice President of Frontier Stone, partner of Lockport Prestress, and owner of Switzer-Shardon Oil Co. and Marion Oaks Ace Hardware in Ocala, FL. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where James served as President of Trustees for several years, and also belonged to many other committees of the church. James was also a member of the Niagara Lodge #375 F. & A.M., Masonic Ismailia Shrine and Lockport Shrine Club. He was a past president of the Board of Directors with the Cornell Co-Operative Extension, a former 4-H Leader and also member and past master of Pekin Grange. James was predeceased by his wife, Dorothea (Wood) Switzer in 2004, whom he married on July 17, 1946; and brothers, George Switzer, Morris Switzer and sister-in-law, Molly Switzer.

    James is survived by his children, James M. (Nancy) Switzer II of Lockport, Jean Ann Switzer McGrath of Cross River, NY, Glen W. (Leslie) Switzer of Ocala, FL, and Linda (Marshall) Switzer-Roth of Lockport; grandfather of James Switzer III, Laura Switzer Malloy, Patricia Brubaker, Michael McGrath, VonHayes Switzer, Reinhardt Switzer, Baldwin Switzer and Jillian DeJohn; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law of Carol Switzer of Lockport; also several nieces and nephews.

    Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 16th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Masonic Service by the Niagara Lodge will be Friday evening at 9 PM in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17th, at 10:30 AM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Donations to the church would be appreciated by the family.

    Philip (Buzz) B. Bechtel, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away April 1, 2024. He was the son of the late Philip S. and Francis (Bovee) Bechtel. He is survived by his three children, Michelle, Kenneth and his wife Amanda, Pascal, and his four grandchildren Evelyn, William, Benjamin, and Frederick.
    Phil had a gentle loving nature and kind words for family and friends. His family will be holding a memorial service on Thursday, April 11th 5pm at the Van Horn Mansion (2159 Lockport-Olcott Rd. Burt, NY).

    Cynthia R. Banks of Newfane NY, daughter of Grace A. Bechtel Banks and the late Adrian M. Banks, was born on April 7, 1957 entered into eternal peace on October 11, 2022.
    She is survived by her siblings: Philip (Beth) Banks, Susan (the late Douglas) Linderman, Paula (Charles) Dahlke, Christopher (Kristine) Banks, Rebecca (Richard) Schweigert, George (Donna) Banks, Laurette (Michael) Clark, and Margaret (James) Ruckdeschel. Her twenty-seven nieces and nephews were a very important part of her life, along with twenty-five great nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is predeceased by her nephew Geoffrey Linderman.
    She attended Newfane Central School and received her AAS at Empire State College. She was employed at Bells Supermarket, Mesmer Convenience store, Niagara County Health Department, and Harrison Radiators/ Delphi. She was a co-founder of the Montessori based “The Little Children Center” TLC Preschool in Olcott.
    One of her deepest passions was her love of animals. She owned numerous cats and dogs, caring for many rescue cats. She also donated to various wildlife foundations. She loved music, dancing and had a great sense of humor, she just loved being plain silly.
    Memorial Service will be held on October 21, 2022, calling hours are from 1pm – 3pm, service will be held at 3pm. The interment will be held at the discretion of the family.

    Geoff attended Newfane High School and Niagara County Community College. He worked most recently for Remedy Staffing in Buffalo. He was a poet, wrote music and played both guitar and saxophone. Geoff played baseball for Newfane and shared a love of the NY Yankees with his Grandpa Linderman. He shared his love of film (Jaws!) with his sister, Jesse.
    Father of Nicholas, and brother of Jesse and Jason, he is also survived by his grandmother Grace Banks (predeceased by his grandparents Adrian Banks, John and Violet Linderman) and many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, great-aunts and uncles, good friends, and his Godmother Pat Hesch. Geoff will be greatly missed by all. No prior visitation. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
