SANBORN - Donald E. Beecher, 78, of Maple Street, died Oct. 16, 1996, in Lockport Memorial Hospital after having an apparent heart attack while playing golf. He was born Sept. 2, 1918, in East Barre, the son of Clair L. and Inga M. (Engen) Beecher. He moved to Sanborn as a child and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1936. He married the former Marian 1. Johnson on Nov. 9, 1940. Mr. Beecher worked for the Union Carbide Corp. for several years after graduation, then opened Beecher Brothers, an oil, heating, air conditioning and appliance business, with his twin brother, Daniel M. Beecher, who died in 1995. Mr. Beecher retired in 1977. He was a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club and a life member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. He played the trumpet in the fire company band for several years. Mr. Beecher attended Sanborn United Methodist Church and was a member of the International Order of Oddfellows and the Wheatfield Bowling League. An avid golfer, he won the first Sanborn Open Golf Tournament in 1979. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susan B. Sandoval of Davis, Calif.; two sons, Ross D. Beecher of Youngstown and Douglas C. Beecher of Fremont, Calif.; a brother, Mark Beecher. of Lewiston; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Benson A. Benton conducted funeral services Sunday at the Rhoney Funeral Home. Burial was to be at the convenience of the family in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Niagara Hospice Inc.

Daniel Beecber Ran Sanborn business 30 years with brother
SANBORN - Daniel M. Beecher, 76, of Fair View Drive, died Dec. 30, 1995, in Mesa General Hospital, Mesa, Ariz., after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 2, 1919, in East Barre, N.Y., the son of Clair L. and Inga M. (Engen) Beecher. He was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had lived in Sanborn most of his life. From 1947 to 1977, Mr. Beecher and his twin brother, Donald, were the co-owners of Beecher Brothers, an oil, heating, air conditioning and appliance business in Sanborn. He was instrumental in the formation of the Sanborn Ambulance Service, which preceded the current Tri-Community Ambulance. Mr. Beecher was known for his clock collection and ability to repair antique clocks. His collection included more than 200 clocks at one point. He showed his antiques at many shows and flea markets throughout the country. An accomplished banjo player, he was president of the Arizona Banjo Band for the past five years and a member of the Buffalo Banjo Band, Just Banjo Band. Mr. Beecher was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanborn, a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club and a life member of the Sanborn Fire Co. In addition to his brother, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Adelaide Pike; three sons, Paul Beecher and Thomas Beecher, both of Sanborn, and Henry Beecher of Ransomville; a brother, Mark Beecher of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

RANSOMVILLE -
Shirley M. Perry, age 83, of Ransomville, died on Friday, May 16, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Shirley was born on January 12, 1931 in Ransomville, NY, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Frances (Beecher) Sanborn and was a 1949 graduate of Tonawanda High School. She married George R. Perry on November 12, 1949 and they moved to Orlando, FL in 1964.
Shirley worked doing domestic cleaning in Orlando for many years. She also worked at a Woolworth's Department store for 12 years and then at Olin Mills Portrait Studio for 6 years. George predeceased her on March 1, 1996 and she returned to Youngstown in 1998. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown and the Universal Craftsman Council of Engineers. She enjoyed painting, playing cards, and the Lewiston Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Perry of Sulfur, LA, Douglas (Charlene) Perry of Detroit, MI, and Darin (Tonna) Perry of Youngstown; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by twin daughters, Betty Mae and Betty Ann Perry; a sister, June Drinkwalter; and a brother, Ted Sanborn.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11:30 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. He joined IBEW Union #1249 as a lineman and served as President. Life member of Sanborn Fire Hall, where Paul served on the Board and as Chief. Paul was a member of the Sanborn Historical Society and Farm Museum. He was married to Margo (nee Goater) until her passing in 2016, just months before their 50th wedding anniversary. Survived by children, Paul, of Murfreesboro, TN, Christine, of Niagara Falls, NY, and Amanda (Scott), of Christiana, TN; granddaughter Samantha; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Obituary of Albert Lavender, Sr.

Albert H. Lavender Sr., age 84 of Model City, died Tuesday April 4, 2017 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary June (Luskin) Lavender whom he married on July 3, 1955.

Albert was born November 24, 1932 in Holley, NY, the son of the late Lester and Ellen (Jeffery) Lavender and has been a resident of Model City since 1947. He served in the 3rd Armored Calvary during the Korean War with time spent in Germany. Albert was employed as a Millwright at Wendt's Dairy for 23 years retiring in 1995. He had also worked at International Multifoods for 13 years.

Al was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many summers at Lake Chautauqua. He loved riding his 4-wheelers, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the NRA, the Niagara River Anglers Association, the Good Sam Club, the FMCA Motor Coach Association, and the Fingerlakers & PEN-NY Mixer Chapters.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Leslie A. (Matthew) Buczkowski of Newfane, Yvette (the late Grant) Marin of North Tonawanda, and Albert H. (Michele) Lavender, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; a sister, Fern Miller; eight granddaughters, one grandson, and nine great grandsons. He was predeceased by a daughter, Vanda L. (late Joseph) Specyal.

A Memorial Service followed by Military Honors will be held in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, April 8, at 11:00 am. There will be no prior visitation. Obituary of Donald McCollum

Donald Lee "Moo Cow" McCollum, age 72, lifelong resident of Ransomville, died Saturday March 4, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a lengthy illness.


Lee was born August 31, 1943 in North Tonawanda, NY, the son of the late Donald and Elma (Jeffrey) McCollum. He married Anna E. Zimmerman on July 20, 1963. Lee was employed as Parts Manager for Modern Disposal Corp. for 23 years. Previous to that he had worked for NAPA and Anchor Motor Freight Systems. Lee served as a member of the Town of Porter Planning Board for 20 years.


He was a 25 year member and an Exempt member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co.; a member of the NRA, and the AARP; and a former member of the Niagara County Motorcycle Club.


He is survived by his wife, Anna; two daughters, Trisha (Doug) Preston and Terri (William) Phillips both of New Port Richey, FL; two grandchildren, Alexandra and William Phillips; two sisters, Donna Wollenberg of Middleport, NY and Jean Upton of Medina, NY; and a brother in law, Norm "Bud" Braun of Middleport, NY. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Braun.

Beecher (Scott Hurst) of Christiana, TN; a niece, Colleen York; and great nephew, Chanse of Niagara Falls, NY.
