    George S. Benham of Newfane died
    suddenly Wednesday evening. September
    5th, 1917. He is survived by his
    wife, one daughter Hazel of Middleport,
    N. Y., father and mother, Mr.
    and Mrs. Edward Benham of Clifton
    Springs. N. Y., four sisters, Mrs. John
    Walter and Miss Jennie Benham of
    Clifton, N. Y , Mrs. Webb of Syracuse,
    N. Y , Mrs. Huston of Mannsville. N.

    George Stewart Benham, aged 41,
    only son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H.
    Benham of Clifton Springs, N. Y., was
    instantly killed on Wednesday evening,
    Sept. 5, near Olcott Beach, in an
    automobile accident. Mr. Benham
    was a resident of Newfane, N. Y., but
    had charge of a garage at Lockport,
    N. Y.
    He and two other men from the
    garage were testing out an eight cylinder
    car when the accident occurred.
    The road was new to Mr. Benham
    and he mistook the soldiers' monument
    for the end of the road, and applied
    his emergency brake, which resulted
    in the car skiding and hitting a telegrph
    pole. His companions jumped
    and escaped with minor injuries, but
    Mr. Benham was pinned underneath
    the car.
    Mr. Benham was a nurse by profession,
    having graduated from the
    Buffalo State hospital in 1895, and followed
    his profession until a few
    months ago when he went into the
    garage business.
    The remains were brought to the
    home of his parents in Clifton Springs
    where the funeral services were held
    on Saturday afternoon at 3:30, Rev.
    D. S. Wilson conducting the services.

    on Pearl street
    The deceased is survived by a wife
    and two daughters, Misses Hazel and
    Mildred Benham, of Newfane. N. Y.,
    his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Benham
    of Clifton Springs, N Y., four
    sisters, Mrs John M. Walters and Miss
    Jennie Benham of Clifton Springs,
    Mrs. L. Paul Webb of Syracuse and
    Mrs. G. Ralph Huested of Mannsville,
    N. Y.
    Mr. Benham was of a bright and
    cheerful disposition and will be sadly
    missed by a large circle of friends

    Note - George listed in 1910 census as widow living in Buffalo with "Stella Wilson" and her sister Grace Culver - this would indicate Stella Wilson was, in fact, Stella Tillotson since Stella Tillotson's sister was Grace Culver

    Mrs. Elizabeth Benham Webb, 69, of
    Syracuse, who died Thursday at James
    Square Nursing Home, Syracuse,
    following an extended illness, will be
    Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James
    Catholic Church, Syracuse: Burial will
    be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville,
    at the convenience of the family. Mrs.
    Webb was the sister of Mrs. Leo P.
    (Edna) Zimmer of Geneva.

    Mrs. Webb was born in Clifton Springs
    Feb. 20, 1883, the daughter of Edward
    and Mary Kavanaugh Benham. She
    attended schools in Clifton Springs. She
    was married to L. Paul Webb of Mannsville
    at her parents' home Nov. 21,1906,
    by the Rev. Felix G'Hanlon. She had
    resided in Syracuse over 50 years.
    Mrs. Webb is survived by one
    daughter, Mrs. Alice E. Langley of
    Syracues; one sister, Mrs. Leo P.
    (Edna) Zimmer of Geneva; a daughterin-
    law, Mrs. C. E. Webb of Syracuse; a
    grandson, T-Sgt. Paul C. Webb of
    Langley Air Force Base, Va.; two
    granddaughters, Mrs. Brian Matties of
    Syracuse and Mrs. Marvin Welch of
    Rochester; five great-grandchildren;
    and several nieces

    CLIFTON SPRINGS - Miss
    Jennie M. Benham, 79, a life-
    long resident of Clifton Springs,
    died Tuesday evening at the
    Clifton Springs hospital after a
    brief illness.
    A prayer service will be held
    at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the
    Weld Funeral Home on Main
    St., with the funeral Mass at
    10 a.m. at St. Felix Church. The
    Rev. Frnacis Turner will offi-
    ciate.
    Burial will be in Clifton
    Springs.
    Friends may call at the fu-
    neral home from 2-4 and 7-9
    p.m. Thursday and Friday. The
    rosary will be recited Friday
    evening at 8 p.m..
    Miss Benham was born in
    Clifton Springs on April 12, 1885.
    The daughter of Edward and
    Mary Kavanaugh Benham. She
    was educated in the public
    schools but left to enter the
    employ of the Clifton Springs
    Sanitarium in the year 1900. In
    1958 she received a 50-year
    pin in acknolwedgment of the
    years she had spent in service
    to the sanitarium and clinic.
    Most of these years were spent
    in the business office of the
    sanitarium building.
    She is survived by two sisters,
    Mrs. Paul (Elizabeth) Webb of
    Syracuse, and Mrs. Leo P.
    (Edna) Zimmer of Geneva; and
    several nieces and nephews.

    afternoon at the home of her grand
    niece, Mrs. Vina Ann Thompson, 4929

    an extended illness.
    Friends may call at the DeVaney
    Funeral Home today from 2 4 and 7-9
    p.m.
    The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday

    member of St Stephen's Church.
    Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Alice
    Langley of Rochester and Mrs.
    Mildred Hessell of Middleport; and
    several grandnieces and nephews

    with her daughter. She was a graduate
    of Clifton Springs High School and the
    Geneva School of Practical Nursing.
    Mrs. Hadley was married on November
    24,1934, to Henry E. Hadley, who died in
    May, 1972. She was a member of St.
    Stephen's Church.
    Surviving are her daughter, Mrs.
    Richard (Vina Anne) Thompson of
    Conyers, Ga.; two grandsons, Ronald
    and Gregory Thompson; two aunts,
    Mrs. Leo P. (Edna) Zimmer of Geneva
    and Mrs. Rose VanOrman of Fairport;
    and several cousins.

    Zimmer of Geneva.
    Surviving are one sister-in-law, Mrs.
    Dorothy Webb of Tully; two nieces,
    Mrs. Mary Mathes of Syracuse and
    Mrs. Tina Welch of Webster; one
    nephew, Paul Webb of Texas; and
    several great-nieces and nephews and
    cousins.
