    Lockport Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
    He retired in 1963 from
    Simonds Saw and Steel Co.
    here where he had been a production
    worker for 23 years.
    He also farmed on his property.
    A lifelong resident here,
    Mr. Berndt was born Feb. 8,
    1899, to Edward and Mary
    Renslnk Berndt. He was a
    member of Rapids Volunteer
    Fire Co.
    Surviving are his widow,
    Mrs. M a r g a r e t Tanner
    Berndt; a son, J o h n E.
    Berndt; six daughters, Mrs.
    Raymond Nayman, Mrs. Roger
    Miller, Mrs. Donald Wruck,
    all of this city, Mrs. Wayne
    Bobszier, Burt, Mrs. George
    Wolcott, and Miss Mary
    Berndt. at home; a sister.
    Mrs. Michael Brant, living in
    Canada, a n d 14 grandchildren.
    Services will be conducted
    at 2 p.m. Monday at the Gaul
    Funeral Home by Rev. James
    Burdick. Evangelical United
    Bretheren C h u r c h , Rapids.

She enjoyed deer hunting and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Newfane.
    Mother of Beverly (Kent Geanangel) Anderson, Barbara (Earl "Pat") Garlock and Christian (Barbara) Bobzien. Grandmother of Brianna, Coby, Dylan, Jordan, Andrew and the late Alisha. Survived by a sister Jean Miller, predeceased by John Berndt, Iva Wruck, Mary Austin, Katherine Nayman, and Patricia Scharlau.
    Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4-8pm where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11am. Burial will be in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations to Newfane Lions Club or Faith Lutheran Church of Newfane.

    Patricia Wolcott Scharlau passed away on July 8, 2013 in Newfane Rehab & Health Care Center. Born in Lockport on June 28, 1940, she was the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Tanner) Berndt. Pat was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Briarwood Manor.
    She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles Scharlau of Lockport and the late George Wolcott, who passed away in 1983; stepmother of Thomas (Rena) Scharlau and Todd (Elizabeth) Tower; sister of Jean Miller of Rochester, Wanda Bobzien of Burt and the late John Berndt, Iva Wruck, Mary Austin and Katherine Nayman. Also survived by her sister in-law, Betty Wolcott; and several nieces and nephews.
    Relatives and friends may call on Friday, July 12th from 4-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where funeral services will immediately follow at 7 PM.

He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Burt, NY and Lockport Elks #41 were he volunteered for many things at the Elks #41 Camp Happiness. Duane also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and NASCAR. Father of Andrew Wruck of Newfane, NY and the late Benjaman Wruck. Brother of Lori (Dick) Dayer of Reno, NV , Donna Wruck of California and the late Wayne and Donald Wruck Jr. Nephew of Jean Miller of Rochester, NY and Wanda Bobzien of Burt, NY. Also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Wilson Burt and West Creek Roads Burt, NY (Wilson Burt Road bridge will be closed). Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials to Elks #41 PO Box 395 Lockport, NY 14094, Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
