Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 6/1939

George W. Clair 40. a former em-
ploye of the city streets department,
died at 5:30 this morning in Lockpyrt
City hospital alter a brief illness
with pneumonia.
Born In Lockport, Mr. Clair attended
the public schools and as a
young man enlisted in the U. S.
Navy where he served for ten years.
During the World war he was on
the U. S. shop Utah.
After being honorably discharged
from the navy he returned to Lockport
where he was employed several
years in the streets department.
Later he »as employed by Joseph
Betsch, former assistant streets superintendent.
He wa.s a member of
B. Leo Dolan Post, 410, American
Legion.
Surviving are his father, William
H. Clair, two brothers and three
sisters, Fred R. and Harold Clair,
Mrs. Ida Kilbury and Mrs. Frank
Bittler, all of Lockport and Mrs.
Norman Niles, Oleott.
Services will be held Saturday at
2:30 at the Kennedy Funeral home,
122 Walnut street. Burial will be
in Glenwood cemetery.

Lockport Memorial Hospital
She is survived by her husband
Frank E., two sons Frank E
Jr. of Lockport, Arthur B. of
Argentina, a daughter Mrs.
James Bischoff of Medina, a
sister Mrs. Ethel Miles of Lockport
and 8 grandchildren.
Friends received at the Joseph
M. Kennedy Funeral Home Inc.
122 Walnut St. where the funeral
will be held Saturday December
21 at 3:30 p.m. Interment
in Cold -Spring Cemetery

Mrs. Florence W. Bittler, 58,
of 75 Main St., a lifelong resident
of Lockport, died today
(Dec. 20, 1963) at Lockport Memorial
Hospital after a six-year
illness.
She was born in Lockport Oct.
22, 1905, the daughter of Abraham
and Jennie Clare.
Surviving are her husband,
Frank E. Bittler, an employe
of International Milling Co.; two
sons, Frank E. Jr., of Lockport,
and Arthur B. of Argentina; a
daughter, Mrs. James Bischoff
of Medina, and a sister, Mrs.
Ethel Miles of Lockport. Also
surviving are five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Joseph
M. Kennedy Funeral
Home, 122 Walnut St., where
services will be held tomorrow
at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. David
Van Winkle, pastor of the Sec-
ond Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Burial will be In Cold Spring
Cemetery.
