Life Story

Nancy L. (Whitcomb) Schinabeck, 76, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life on June 22, 2023.  Born on August 7, 1946 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Whitcomb.  On July 31, 1970, Nancy married Herbert Schinabeck.

Nancy was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. In her younger years, she was employed by LaHacienda Restaurant and the formers Hills Department Store.

In addition to her beloved husband, known to Nancy as 'Boss', Nancy is survived by her loving dog companion, Hunky; sister-in-law, Mary (late Anthony) Sgroi and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

LINDA JOYCE WHITCOMB, age 70 of North Tonawanda, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, entered into the rest on July 1, 2020 at Buffalo General Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 1, 1949, daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Glassnip) Whitcomb. Linda was employed doing janitorial and custodial work at the Seneca Niagara Casino. She enjoyed watching the classic black and white movies, loved to bake, play Bingo with her sisters, and was on a bowling league.
Survivors include a brother, Norman and a sister, Nancy; grandchildren, Nancy and Herbie Schinbeck, Richie and Deloris Whitcomb, Shirly and Al Evans, Dorthy and Hank Shiro, Charlene and Duane Clive, Barbara and Terry McFarland, and Marsha Winger.
Also predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, Richie, Don, Shirly, Dorthy, Bobby, Charlene, Marsha, and Barbara.
Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Monday (July 6) from 3-6 p.m. Services will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m.

Charlene (Whitcomb) Clive, 78, of the Town of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on August 8, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Glassnip) Whitcomb.  
 
On September 21, 1957, Charlene married Duane Clive.  She was a loving homemaker and caregiver to her family.  Charlene enjoyed bowling and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
 
In addition to her beloved husband of 61 years, Charlene is survived by children, Kathleen Clive, Shelly (Gary) Strassburg, Joseph (Linda) Clive and Glenda (Tom) Doane; grandchildren, Brandy Costa, Sarah Kreps, Andrew Strassburg, Jonathon Clive, Melissa Garland, Michael Kieley, Justin Kieley, Joseph Kieley and Tommy Doane and 12 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings, Norman Whitcomb, Nancy Schinabeck and Linda Whitcomb and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Charlene is survived by a granddaughter, Deanna Doane and siblings, Donald, Dorothy, Richard, Bobby, Shirley, Barbara and Marcia.

Richard Carl Whitcomb, Sr., age 78, of Olcott, formerly of Niagara Falls, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 2, 2013 while at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness at the age of 78. Born in Forth Edwards, NY on January 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Glasnip) Whitcomb and came to the Niagara Falls area at six months of age.
Richard was employed as a truck driver for 37 years at Inter-City Truck Lines, Tonawanda, retiring in 1992. A former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, he was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Newfane. Hobbies and interests included golfing, bowling, playing pool, played baseball and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Delores (Wendt) Whitcomb. They were united in marriage on October 7, 1954; three children, Richard (Cynthia) Whitcomb, Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Russell Whitcomb of Olcott and Debi (Russell) Loverde of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Elena (Christopher) Woods, Crystal Whitcomb, Jamie Whitcomb-Hassan and Richard (Dorothee) Whitcomb III; three great-grandchildren, Walker, Aurora and Wesley; one brother and five sisters, Dorothy (Decd. Henry) Schiro, Charlene (Duane) Clive, Norman (Decd. Carol) Whitcomb, Barbara (Decd. Terry) McFarland, Nancy (Herbie) Schineback and Linda Whitcomb; and two brothers-in-law, William (Al) Evans and Duane Wendt. Predeceased by two brothers, Donny and Bobby Whitcomb; and two sisters, Marsha Whitcomb and Shirley Evans.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, November 8th at 10:30 AM in the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, with the Rev. Michael A. NORMAN HERBERT WHITCOMB, age 80 of North Tonawanda, NY, entered into rest on January 23, 2022 at Autumn View Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 28, 1941; son of the late Charles and Louisa (Glassnip) Whitcomb, Norman attended Gaskill Middle School before going on to work as a forklift operator at Tops for over 30 years. He enjoyed listening to the radio as well as watching his son play soccer and baseball. He is survived by his sister, Nancy (Herbie) Schinabeck, nephews Lonnie Winger and Wayne Dundas, niece Nancy Winger and several other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his partner Carol Klaczyk, son Charlie Whitcomb, as well as nine brothers and sisters: Richard (Deloris) Whitcomb, Don Whitcomb, Shirley (Al) Evans, Dorthy (Hank) Schiro, Robert Whitcomb, Charlene (Duane) Clive, Marsha Winger, Linda Whitcomb and Barbara (Terry) McFarland. Barbara Jean McFarland, age 71 of Niagara Falls, NY was called to her heavenly home on March 27, 2015, while at the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Glasnip) Whitcomb. Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo and was employed at the old LaHacienda Restaurant.

Survivors include a brother and four sisters, Dorothy (decd. Henry) Schiro, Charlene (Duane) Clive, Norman (decd. Carol) Whitcomb, Nancy (Herbie) Schinabeck and Linda Whitcomb; sister in law, Delores Whitcomb; brother in law, Albert Evans; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband in 2004, Terry McFarland; three brothers, Donny, Bobby and Richard Whitcomb Sr.; and two sisters, Marsha Whitcomb and Shirley Evans.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday April 4th at 3:00 P.M. in the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, with the Rev. Michael A. Born in Buffalo, NY on September 24, 1988; son of Norman Whitcomb of North Tonawanda and the late Carol (Klaczyk) Whitcomb. Charles received a Bachelor's degree in mathematics at Buffalo State College, and was employed at the Howard Johnson's Hotel.Besides his father, other survivors include his brother, Mark Klaczyk; sister, Barbara (Michael) Vanderlaan; uncle, Timothy Vanderlaan; and several other uncles, aunts and cousins.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Tuesday (July 20) from 4-8 p.m. A private interment, with the family, will take place on Wednesday.
