    Nicholas A. Ligammari, 96, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the loving son of the late Andrea (Jack Morell) Ligammari and Mary Stella (Cumbo) Ligammari. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Masco) Ligammari whom passed away in 2004 after 58 years of marriage. Nicholas enlisted in the United States Navy and served during WWII in Dunkswell, England, in the B24 Liberators, flying anti-submarine missions. He was awarded several medals for his service. Mr. Ligammari was employed at The Vanadium Corp., The NY State Power Authority and the NY State Board of Education where he worked as a Stationary Fireman until his retirement in 1984. Nicholas was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 247, and served as an usher at various Catholic Churches in Niagara Falls. Mr. Ligammari was devoted to the creation of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine via fundraising and its construction.
    Nicholas loved to travel with his wife. He was also an avid golfer and bowler and played in many leagues. In his younger days, he was an avid banjo and mandolin player. Mr. Ligammari was known to be the life of every party and will be greatly missed. He was loved fiercely by his three children, and by many, many family and friends. He was affectionately known as both Uncle Nick and BV Nick. Nicholas is survived by his children, Joseph (Frank Verlizzo) Ligammari, Janet Ligammari and M.R. (Samantha Provencio) Ligammari; one brother, Andrew (Beverly) Ligammari; his sister-in-law, Rose (late Thomas) Conde, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nicholas was predeceased by his siblings Alfred (late Lenora) Ligammari, Anna (late William) Julian, Frances (Sal) Bruno, Joseph (late Concetta) Ligammari, Rose (late Al) Albion and Stella (late Robert) Stott. Visitation will be on Friday, September 21st from 1 – 3 & 6 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Saturday at 11:15 A.M., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.     NIAGARA FALLS —
    Alfred D. Ligammari, Sr., 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew "Jack" and Mary (Cumbo) Ligammari.
    Alfred was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. During World War II, he served in the United States Army with the 82nd Engineers Combat Battalion from February 6, 1943 until his honorable discharge on December 21, 1945. He participated in the campaigns of Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland and was awarded a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Croix de Guerre, a Good Conduct Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal among many others. On January 11, 1947, he married Leonora M. (Cerminara) Ligammari at the former Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Ligammari predeceased him on April 26, 2002. Alfred was a member of the OPCMIA #173 (Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association) with whom he served as secretary-treasurer. During the late 50's, Alfred worked on the Niagara Power Project. From 1959 until the mid 1970's, he worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education in their Trades Dept., and from the mid 1970's until his retirement in 1985, Alfred was employed by the City of Niagara Falls as a housing inspector.
    Alfred was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of the National Bowlers Association, served as an officer for the Niagara Falls Golf Club at Hyde Park Golf Course, where he once aced a hole-in-one, and was a co-founder of the annual Anchovy Invitational Golf Tournament, held annually at HPGC for over thirty years. Golf was his true sports passion. This past summer, Alfred golfed his last few times at Hyde Park with his older brother, Nicholas, and his younger brother, Andrew. Alfred was also very active in several other local organizations which included, serving as first president of the Local Civil Service Employees Association, an umpire in the Hyde Park Little League Zone 3, the Niagara Men's Service Club at John Duke Center. Al, Sr. was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association and an award winning competitive handgun marksman, a member of the 82nd Engineers Combat Battalion Association and past 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.
    In his leisure time, Alfred also enjoyed painting and drawing. His paintings were on display at an art show at the Niagara Falls Public Library in 2012. He was a gifted musician who played the banjo, mandolin, guitar, ukulele, upright bass and tuba. Above all, Alfred will most be remembered as a dedicated family man to the entire Ligammari and Cerminara families. He was especially proud of his family's accomplishments, and of the fact that all of his children attended college.
    Mr. Ligammari is survived by his three children, Michelle R. Ligammari, Andrew A. Ligammari and Alfred D. (Lynn) Ligammari, Jr., all of Niagara Falls, NY; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Virginia Ligammari; three siblings, Nicholas (late Elizabeth) Ligammari, Frances (Salvatore) Bruno, both of Niagara Falls, NY and Andrew (Beverly) Ligammari of Florida; his beloved companion, Patricia Greiner; as well as several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Anna (late William) Jullian, Rosemary (late Alfred) Albion, Stella (late Robert) Stott; and one brother, Joseph (late Concetta) Ligammari; and one grandchild.
    Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, November 13th at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Andrew Lauricella officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.     Frances S. Bruno, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Niagara Hospice House. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Andrea and Maria S. (Cumbo) Ligammari. Frances was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, where she attended local schools. On May 29, 1965, she married her loving husband, Salvatore “Sal” Bruno. Frances began working at Loblaw’s Grocery Store for many years and later at the Permanent Savings Bank prior to her retirement in 1988. She was a longtime member of the Frontier Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary, the I.S.D.A. Power City Lodge 158 and the Elks Lodge. 
    In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. She also enjoyed crocheting and cooking, but above all loved spending time with her family. In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dennis) Pysniak and Jerlanda (Kevin) Mathias; and was predeceased by one daughter, Carol A. Ardus. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Frances (Patrick) Nowak, Gina (Richard) Stanton of Las Vegas, Christopher Pysniak, Giana Bruno, Elizabeth (Sean) LaFountain, Chelsea Bruno; her great-grandchildren, Heather Maines of Florida, Patrick Nowak, Rachel Nowak, Natalie Nowak, Mark Nowak, Lucas Nowak, Silas LaFountain, Jax Hook, Ellie Hook, Giavana Stanton of Las Vegas and Liliana Stanton of Las Vegas; two siblings Nicholas (late Betty) Ligammari and Andrew (Bev) Ligammari of Florida; as well as many loving family members including her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the sister-in-law of Mary Anne (late Earl) Forbes of California, Carolyn (George) Strott of Florida , Joseph (Toni) Bruno of Montana, Larry Bruno of Florida, Francine Bruno of Dunkirk, NY, Thomas Bruno of California, John (Karen) Bruno of Hamburg, NY and the late Rosalie (John) Bruxius. Frances was predeceased by five siblings, Alfred (late Lee) Ligammari, Joseph (Connie) Ligammari, Stella (Bob) Stott, Anna (William) Julian and Rosie (Alfred) Albion. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Niagara Hospice House for the outstanding care and compassion given to their wife, mother and grandmother during her final days.
