Mrs. Elizabeth Bodamer cut her throat
with a razor about 5:30 o'clock yesterday
afternoon at her home, No. 14 George
Street.
She was alone in the house at the time,
and when her husband returned from his
work at 6 o'clock he found the body lying
in a pool of blood on the floor in a rear
room, with the raaor tightly clutched in
the right hand. The body was warm, and
Dr. Clement was summoned, but he found
that the flame of life had gone Out.
Mrs. Bodamer was 64 years did, and although
she acted strangely at times, her
sad death was a terrible blow to her hus-
band and family. When her daughter left
home yesterday morning Mrs. Bbdamer appeared
to be in a most cheerful mood. Besides
her husband she is survived by two
sons, two daughters, and three stcp-daughters.
The oldest son, John, is a patrolman
in the First Precinct. Coronor Ransom
was called in. and he decided that an inquest
would be unnecessary.

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Souter
on the morning of December 4th removed
one of Buffalo's truest nobihty.
Mrs. Souter, living at the time of her
decease with her son, Jesse R. Souter,
at No. 243 Maryland Street, had spent
her more than seventy-slx years in this
city. Her life had been full of deeds
of kindness and her record one of unfailing
faithfulness. She was most
sweetly marked by that "meek and
quiet spirit, which is in the sight of
God of great praise." Gentle and kindly,
with flashes of genial humor, loving
cheerfulness, but never forward,
this noble lady lived as truly Christian
a life as one could anywhere find, and
drew hearts to her as the sunlight
draws the birds or the flowers draw
the bees. Left long years a widow,
Mrs. Souter sought solace in her children
and her friends, of which last
there were many, and above all she
found comfort and peace in the Saviour
who was her all-in-all. Many and
many a -time, when she felt scarcely
able to go, Mrs. Souter was found in
her place ln the house of God, whether
she loved to resort for worship and
for fellowship with believers who were
bound on the same pilgrimage as herself.
For thirty-flve years this faithful
one was a member of the Prospect
Avenue Baptist Church, where she will
long be lovingly remembered for her
most beautiful spirit and faithful
service.
Seized at last with a malady which
took the heart in its clutch, this good
woman ended her earthly journey with
serenity and went Home. Mourned
and missed by many besides her own.
Mrs. Souter's memory will long be
cherished. She is survived by Isaac J.
Souter. Jesse R. Souter and Mrs.
William H. Van Vliet of Boston,
Mass. The funeral was held at
tne home on Maryland Street, Monday
afternoon. In the absence of her
pastor from the city, the, service was
conducted by the Rev. George Whitman,
pastor of the Lafayette Avenue
Baptist Church, once her pastor In the
Cedar Street Church.

Avenue, will be held at 2.30 tomorrow

Forest Lawn. Mr. Bodamer died
late Tuesday night after a brief
illness.
A Buffalo butcher since he was
eighteen years old, Mr. Bodamer
purchased the Hertel Avenue market
four years ago. Surviving are
his wife, Mrs. Jessie V. Bodamer,
and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Hough
of Rochester.
