Andrew Bowers died Thursday of
old age inflrmatives. The funeral
was held Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the home of his daughter.
Mrs. Charles Meland, Coleman
road. Barker. The Rev. W. J. Harrington
of the Barker M. E. church
will officiate. Interment will be at
Somerset.
Mr. Bowers was well known in
this community where he had spent
his entire life.
He is survived by one son, Ray
Bowers of Barker, and several
daughters, Mrs. Charles Meland,
Mrs. Maynard of Barker, Miss Lil-
lian Bowers of Lyndonville, and
several grandchildren

Bailey. 74. formerly of Barker, died
Sunday at the home of Mrs. Fay
Spears, Gasport. ,
Born in July, 1878. she lived in
the vicinity of Barker most of her
life and married Dan Bailey when
she was 18 years old. They were
fanners all their lives.
Her husband died 18 years ago
and about two and half years ago,
she moved to the home of Mrs.
Spears. She was a member of
West Somerset Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by three
sons, Roy A., Clarence O. of Newfane
and Joseph E. of Lockport;
three sisters, Mrs. Alice Maynard
of Lyndonvule, Mrs. Ethel Meland
and Miss Lillian Bowers of Barker;
also, one brother, Roy Bowers
of Barker and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be held at t he
Bream Funeral Home. Gasport, tomorrow
at 2 o'clock with the' Rev.
George Bishop officiating. Burial
will be in Hartland-Central Cemetery.

80, of 336 N. Main St.. Medina,
died Sunday (June 14. 1958)
in Medina Memorial Hospital.
Her survivors Include 39 grandchildren,
57 great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild
Mrs. Maynard was born on
Nov. 16, 1879, the daughter of
Louisa Southwick and Andrew
Bowers. Her husband, William,
died recently. A son, Eugene W
Maynard of Lockport, died June
4.
She was a member of the Quaker
Rd. and Medina Methodist
Churches.
Other survivors include five
daughters, Mrs. Paul Goetze and
Mrs. Walter Goetze, both of Lyndonville,
Mrs. John Wittcop of
Lockport, Mrs. Wilson King of
Medina. Mrs. Paul Hedley of Ol-
cott; four sons, Frank of Medina,

Roy Bowers, 84, a lifelong resident
of Barker, died Saturday
(Feb. 10, 1968) in Hilltop Nursing
Home, Gasport.
Mr. Bowers, who lived on the
West Somerset Road, was born
Sept. 13,1883, the son of Andrew
A. Bowers and Louisa Southwick
Bowers.
For many years a farmer In
the area, Mr. Bowers, in recent
years was employed by the
Southland Frozen Foods Inc.,
Barker.
In 1910 he married Florence
Stockton, who survives him.
He was a member of the Bar
ker Methodist Church.
Also surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. Helen Seward of Gasport;
five grandchildren, two
great - grandchildren, and a
sister, Mrs. Ethel Meland of
Appleton.
Burial was this morning in
Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndonville.

G. Bowers 66. of County House
Road, Albion, died today (June
25, 1962) at the Arnold Gregory
Memorial Hospital, Albion, after
a brief ilness.
Born Sept. 20, 1895 in the Town
of Somerset she was the daugh-
ter of Andrew and Louisa South-
wick Bowers.
Miss Bowers was a practical
nurse and genral housekeeper
most of her life..
Surviving are one brother, Roy

LOCKPORT—An autopsy has revealed that a
heart attack caused the death of Clarence D. Bailey,
56, of 5285 Lower Mountain Road, Town of Lockport,
who was found Monday afternoon in the midst of a
spreading grass fire on the used car lot he operated.
Mr. Bailey, an auto dealer
here for more than 30 years,
was found lying in the center
of a grass-car' fire by a neighbor,
Allen Graham, 5320 Blck-
ert Place, Just east of the used
car lot
Mr. and Mrs. Graham saw
smoke coming from the used
car lot. They ran over to the
lot, but could not locate Mr.
Bailey. Mr. Graham then
spotted Mr. Bailey lying near
the center of the blaze which
had spread to a car.
Mr. Graham called the
South Lockport Volunteer Fire
Co. which put out the blase.
He also called the Niagara
County Sheriffs Department.
Two deputies came to the
scene, where they found the
grass and a car in flames.
Mr. Graham showed them the
body of a man was was Identified
as Clarence Bailey by
his son, Clarence Bailey Jr.
of Newfane.
Deputies said it seemed apparent
that Mr. Bailey was
trying to extinguish the blase
with a broom which was found
near his body. No cause has
been determined for the blase.
Coroner Oscar H. Bell di-
rected the Gaul Funeral Home
to take the body to Lockport
Memorial Hospital, where an
autopsy was performed. Mr.
Bell said that Mr. Bailey also
had suffered serious back
burns.

LOCKPORT-Ralph A. Maynard,
47, a veteran of the first World
War, died yesterday at his home,
Johnson Creek road, Middleport. In
the first war he served overseas
with the 307th Infantry. He was
both gassed and wounded. Since the
war he had operated a farm and
dealt in horses.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel
Maynard; a daughter, Mrs. Leon
Pickles, of this city; his mother,
Mrs. Alice Maynard; five sisters.

BARKER - Funeral services
were held today for Donald Bowers,
48, formerly of Barker, who
died unexpectedly Thursday, (July
13, 1961) in a dentist's chair in
Portland Me. while waiting to
have his tooth extracted.
The rites were held at 2 this
afternoon at the Hood Funeral
Home, Barker, followed by burial
in Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndon-
ville.
Born Dec. 28, 1912, the son of
Mr. and Roy Bowers, Barker, he
lived in the Barker-Lockport area
until the outbreak of World War
II, when he enlisted in the U.S.
Navy. Upon his discharge he be
came associated with the Ingraham
Jack Insurance Agency of
Westbrook, Me.
Before enlisting he was employed
at Paris Dry Clenaers in
Lockport, and Harrison Radiator
Division. General Motors Corp.
A member of the Naval Reserves,
he was called back to duty
in the Korean War, when he was
stationed in Japan. At the conclusion
of the Korean Conflict, he
returned to his home in Portland.
where he was employed until the
time of his death.
Besides his parents, he leaves
two daughters, Miss Yvonne Bow
ers and Miss Carol Bowers of
Lewiston, Me.; one son, Wayne
Bowers of Gasport; and a sister,
Mrs. Floyd Seward of Gasport.

Helen May (Bowers) Seward, age 91, entered into rest on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport. Born August 7, 1923 in Barker, Helen is the daughter of the late Alfred "Roy" and Florence (Stockton) Bowers. Helen married Floyd Seward on June 28, 1947 at Barker Methodist Church. Mr. Seward died March 6, 2008.

Helen was a 1941 graduate of Barker Central School and was very involved with Barker's Alumni Association, a 1945 graduate of Houghton College and she received her masters in Music Education in 1971 from the University of Buffalo. She had worked at Barker Central schools as a music teacher, retiring in 1973. She also substituted in many area schools after retiring. Helen was a member of the Hartland United Methodist Church where she was the choir director for 30 years, and was involved in the Women's Club and the Elizabeth Circle, the Retired Teachers Association where she was Past President. She was also a former Vice President and song leader of Delta Kappa Gamma. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving Helen is her daughter, Susan (William) Harrod of Gasport. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Floyd and her son, Thomas Seward; mother-in-law of Dorothy Seward of Lockport; grandmother of Shannon (Jason) Schultz, Michael (Amy) Colley Jr., Benjamin Seward (McKenzie), Megan (Karl) Newton, Bailey Seward (Jackson), Wendy (Bill) Luth and Gregory (Angela) Harrod; sister of the late Donald R. Bowers; also survived by 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 3-7 PM. LOCKPORT — Norman R. Bailey, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on November 11, 1929 in Medina, he was the son of Roy and Lillian Thiel Bailey. Mr. Bailey retired in 1993 after 31 years from Harrison Radiator where he was a Senior Overseas Designer.

Predeceased in 2001 by his beloved wife, Marilyn Wetzel Bailey, he is survived by his daughter, Karen (Michael Barclay) Bailey and son, Paul (Erin) Bailey, both of Lockport; seven grandchildren and his sister, Betty Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6965 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport, NY. Interment in Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., Roswell Park Cancer Institute or the church of one's choice.

LOCKPORT — Lewis John Wittcop passed away May 2, 2012, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born January 6, 1927 in Gasport, he was the son of John William and Estelle Rose (Maynard) Wittcop. Lewis entered the US Army on April 27, 1945, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on December 8, 1946, with the 313th Company C Engineer Combat Battalion stationed in Europe during WWII. Lewis was employed with Harrison Radiator where he was a truck driver, and retired in 1975 after 31 years. He was a member of the Hartland United Methodist Church, joining in 1962 to present; member of the Gasport American Legion Post 1253, Hartland Conservation Club and a member of ABC American Bowling Congress. Lewis enjoyed fishing, was an avid local sports fan, bowling and was a John Deere Collector.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Jean (Bedford) Wittcop of Hartland; father of Terrance Wittcop (Judy) of Hickory, NC, Norma Sturtevant (Steven) of Lockport, Elizabeth Seib of Newfane, Laura Werth (John) of Medina, Rodger Wittcop (Carol) of Lockport, Denise Caton of Gasport, Roseann Heitzenrater (Joseph), Brian Wittcop (Sarah) of Gasport, and the late Cheryl Feuersanger (Johann) of Lockport; grandfather of 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; very dear nephew, Christopher Wittcop of Gasport; last survivor of thirteen siblings.

Relatives and friends may call Friday 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where funeral services will be held Friday evening at 7 PM, with the Rev. Geraldine V. Wittcop passed away March 12, 2018 in Lockport Rehab & Healthcare Center.  Born March 23, 1932 in Royalton she was the daughter of Henry and Virginia (Herman) Jakubowski.  Geraldine worked for Harrison Radiator in production and enjoyed gardening, traveling, doing crafts, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was predeceased by her husband Allen W. Wittcop and her soulmate Charles Pomeroy.
Geraldine is survived by her children Virginia (Ronald) Zimmerman, Dana (Joann) Wittcop, Kim (Susan) Wittcop , Sr., and Tammy (Richard) Groff; grandmother of Kelley, Matt, Brandon, Justin, Jordan, Kim Jr., April, Tonisha, Nick, Nathan, and late Tara and Ryan; great grandmother of sixteen; sister of Linda (Bill) Vincent and Dale (Janet) Dunkelberger; also several nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased by her step-siblings Howard, William Dunkelberger, and Sharon Schultz.

LOCKPORT — Alice J. Bedford passed away November 26, 2010 in Niagara Hospice, after a battle with Alzheimer's. Daughter of the late John and Estelle (Maynard) Wittcop.

Alice was the loving wife of James E. Bedford of Lockport and is also survived by a daughter, Darcy Berasi of Arizona and a son, David and Jackie Starcher of Lockport; and a brother, Lewis (Jean) Wittcop of Gasport. She has 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Alice was also predeceased by her siblings, Kathryn, Agnes, Allen, Pearl, Wilfred, Mary, Elton and several nieces and nephews.

Michael was predeceased by his wives, Jean (Newman) Filipovich on August 18, 2004 and Dorothy (Litchard) Filipovich on November 23, 2017.

Dennis Joseph Filipovich passed away August 20, 2018.  Born July 15, 1951 in Lockport he was the son of the late Andrew G. and Kathryn R. (Wittcop) Filipovich.  Dennis worked in building maintenance for various local companies. He was an avid sportsman, loved his cars, and fished until the end. 
Dennis is survived by his wife Sandra (Wheeler); father of Mark, Brian (Kristy), Stephanie (Ricky) Paine, Michele Cook, and step-son Bryan Wheeler; siblings Linda (John) Sullivan, Daniel, and late Andrew “Steve”, Michael, and Patrick; grandfather of Natalie Gilland, Zane, Joshua, Dillion, Walker, Amelia, Ashton Filipovich, Courtney, Lauren Paine, Wyatt Cook, and late Stone Filipovich; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

LOCKPORT — Andrew S. Filipovich entered into rest Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Born April 11, 1944, he was the son of Andrew G. Filipovich and Kathryn Wittcop Filipovich. Andrew, known as "Moose" by all who knew him, served in the US Army and worked 30 years at Harrison Radiator, where he retired in 1987. He was best known for being an avid outdoorsman. He loved traveling about the country fishing and hunting. "Moose" had an immense passion for duck hunting and Labrador retrievers. He was also a Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed riding and hanging out with friends. A charismatic, fun, loving man, "Moose" will most be remembered for living life at full throttle and making life an adventure. Our lives were enhanced by having him with us.

Beloved husband to Robin Wass Filipovich; father of Dawn (Joe) Fonzi and Shelly Sherman; cherished grandfather of Morgan Fonzi and Ryan Fonzi; brother of Michael Filipovich, Dennis (Sandy) Filipovich, Daniel Filipovich, Patrick (Sandy) Filipovich and Linda (John) Sullivan; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

On Saturday June 5th 2021 our family found the beautiful soul of Michael Anthony Filipovich Jr better known as Flip on his first fishing trip in Heaven with the Lord as his captain. Mike is survived by his wife Donna along with his son Joshua Bachman and Lauren Rose grandchildren Lijah,Gracelynn, Valin and Silas. Also his son Nicholas and wife Justine Bachman. Brother to Christine Shanks and Mary and David Edmister. Wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Mike was a lover of life from his family to fishing, to the beautiful Outdoors, to fishing, overnight camping, to fishing, fast cars and dirt tracks and back to fishing. His heart was huge and helpful and in his own special way .He will be remembered forever in our hearts. Woolston Sullivan.  He retired from the Lockport Housing Authority in 2005 after working for 25 years as a Maintenance Engineer.  John enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his wife Linda (Filipovich) Sullivan who passed away on July 6, 2022.
John is survived by his children Jayson (Stacey) Sullivan and Cassandra Pelletier and his five grandchildren.  He was the brother of Linda (James) Lee, Patricia (Thomas) Russell, David (Debbie) Sullivan and Daniel (late Laura) Sullivan.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
