    RALEIGH, NC - Donald Charles Putnam, from Raleigh, NC, passed from this life on his 80th birthday, June 5, 2014, after a long illness. Born in Auburn, NY to the late F. Kenneth and Miriam Putnam.

    He is survived by his children, Christopher of Raleigh, NC and Joy Putnam-Fabiano (Neil) of Youngstown, NY (son and daughter of Alice Putnam); Elizabeth (Peter) Brofman of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Penny Monjeau of New Mexico (daughters of Joan Hatherly Putnam); his grandchildren, Andrea (Chad) Heath, Christie Fabiano, Nicholas Fabiano, Gregg and Mark Monjeau, David, Ingrid and Kenneth Brofman, Elizabeth and Hannah Putnam; his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Peyton and Olivia Heath. Also survived by his sister, Sandra (Frank) Weiss of Lewiston, NY and Robert (Tina) Putnam of Reminderville, OH, and several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his wife, Susan (2000).

    Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Contributions can be made in Donald's honor to Crescent Green Assisted Living Communities, 624 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro, NC 27510.
