Pelow Slate, 54, wife of F
Raymond Slate, 543 Webb
street, was found dead at her
home at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday
by her husband when he returned
from work. Death was
apparently caused by a heart
attack. She had not been ill
and was in her usual health
when a television repair man
was at the house shortly after
4 p.m.
The funeral will be Saturday
at 8:30 a.m. at the Cummings
funeral home and at 9
in St. Mary's church. Burial
will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral
home tonight from 7
to 9 and Friday from 3 to 5
and 7 to 9 p.m.
Surviving besides her husband,
are a niece, Mrs. Robert
F. (Rosemary) Phillips,
Clayton; two nephews, - William
C. Pilon of Lincoln, Neb.,
now serving in Viet Nam;
Robert E. Pilon, Clayton;
and eight great-nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Slate was born in
Clayton, Oct. 29, 1910, a
daughter of Steven L. and Addie
Brabant Pelow. She was
graduated from St. Mary's
High school in 1930 arid
studied nursing for two years
at Mercy hospital, Watertown.
On June 30, 1934, she was
married to Frederick Raymond
Slate of Chaumont in
St. Mary's -church, Clayton,
by the late Rev. George E.
Racette, then pastor. Mr.
Slate was then employed by
Drury Construction company
and is now a heavy machine
operator for the town of
Clayton highway department.
Mrs. Slate was a member of
the Ladies of St. Ann society
of St. Mary's church.
