NEWFANB, April 22-The death
of William Brado at his home In
Newfane last "Saturday removes a
figure that has long been familiar to
t h i s vicinity. Coming to this country
from Germany when he was six
years old, he was thrown upon his
own resources early In life, and be-
gan to shift for 'himself at the age
of 12. His home had always been
In Niagara County. He was married
to Elizabeth Plain in 1863 and at
the outbreak of the Civil war he en-
listed and saw service from 1861 to
1862. He re-enlisted within three
weeks and served till 1886, and was
in 27 battles. He was with the third
N e w York cavalry. His wife died In
January, 1907. His death leaves but
three or four veterans of ths Civil
War remaining in the township. Five
sons and two daughters survive him:
William ,T. and Charles of Cambria;
Frank. Lewis and Bert of Newfane,
and Mrs. Ella. Brimmer of Lockport
and Mrs. Alice Smith of Schenectady,
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon.

McArthur. died Sunday at her
home. Van Buren Street following
several months Illness. .The McAr
tliurs made their home for several

was active in many community or-
ganizations and was well known as

for several years, retiring in 1961.

Marianna “Mo” Klein, 93 years young, entered eternal rest on June 9, 2017, surrounded by her family who deeply loved her. Marianna was born in Pekin, NY, the daughter of the late Roy and Nettie[Brado] Wethy.
 
She graduated from Lasalle High School and lived at home until she married the love of her life, Edwin Klein, in 1945.
Marianna was first and foremost a wife and mother. She brought her family to church every week at Sanborn Methodist Church and later to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. When all her children were in school, she worked at Starpoint Schools in the Food Service Department, eventually working her way up to manager. She retired from Starpoint in 1986. Marianna and her husband were devoted Christians and lived their lives accordingly. As a couple they provided a warm and loving home for their family and later on for their grandchildren. She also enjoyed a close relationship with her many nieces and nephews and her brother-in- law, Gerald Treichler, who have special memories of great times spent with her.
 
Marianna enjoyed cooking for her family and became “locally famous” for her delicious apple pie. She and her husband built a beautiful home that became the meeting place for friends and family for many years. Wonderful family vacations were taken through the years, and the goal of her and her husband was to make holidays and special occasions memorable for others with thoughtful gifts and delicious food.
 
Marianna is survived by three children, Roy (Nyla) Klein, Ruth Pirinelli and Risë Pirinelli. She spent the last 42 years actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren, Michael (MaryEllen) Klein, Jeff Klein, Timothy (Jennifer) Joyner, Risë Garavaglia, Kristy (late Walter, III) Wisniewski, Dawn Pirinelli, Robert (Tracey) Pirinelli, Philip (Stephanie) Pirinelli and John (Trisha) Pirinelli and her 16 great-grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Louis Edwin Pirinelli and sister of the late Helen (Wethy) Mittelstaedt and Lois (Wethy) Treichler.
 
Family will be present on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road SANBORN, NY, where a service will be held at 11 AM.

She is survived by four remaining children, Lorraine (Lynn) Garver of Gasport, Michael (Janice) Wright of Medina, Patrick (Jan) Wright of Pennsylvania and Alicia (Jim) Kroetch of Rockstream. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by her good friend, Judy Gorhan.
Memorial service at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport, November 11th at 11:00 AM with a light luncheon to follow.
Marilyn enjoyed playing bingo and seeing her great grandchildren. They always brought a smile to her face and they will miss her dearly.

GASPORT — Joyce E. Brado, 84, passed away December 12, 2011 in Absolut of Gasport Health Care Facility. Born March 13, 1927, in Lockport, she was the daughter of Elton and Frances (Schumacher) Brado. Joyce worked for Norton Labs for many years where she was an executive assistant, briefly at Harrison Radiator, and retired at the age of 75 from Niagara County Department of Social Services. She was an active member of the former St. Peter's United Church of Christ, former member of the Lockport Chorale and lifelong member of the Republican Club of Lockport. Joyce enjoyed cooking and baking fruit cakes to give out as gifts during the holidays.

Joyce is survived by her nephew, Roger (Virginia) McEldowney; great-nieces, Elizabeth McEldowney and Barbara Stachura; great-nephews, David Stachura and Alan Stachura; and the Schumacher family. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends and will be remembered as a loving and proud "Aunt" to all.

Miss Evelyn Brado, St. Johns-
ville, died yesterday of injuries re-
ceived in an automobile accident
at South St. Johnsville a few hours
after a New Berlin woman had
been killed in a crash near Morris.
Mrs.. Leo Van Deusen, 39, New
Berlin, died of a fractured skull
after the car she was driving
skidded and struck a tree near
Morris Thursday. Her six-months-
old child also in the car,, escaped
with bruises.
Miss Brado, 16, St,, Johnsville
High School senior,, died at 8 a.m.
Friday, in th Little Falls Hos-
pital of a fractured skull and other
inuries suffered when the car in
which she was a passenger struck
a tailroad embankment at South
St. Johnsville at midnight.
Three Injured
Three others were hurt in the
crash. Stanley Kosenowski, Steele
St., Herkimer, driver, is in the hos-
pital suffering from a triple frac-
ture of the jaw and bruises and
lacerations. His condition was de-
scribed as "good" today.
Frank Waskowski, 329 King,
Herkimer, suffered a severe lacera-
tion of the right ear and othr lac-
erations and bruises. He re-
mained at the hospital over night,
and was discharged Friday.
Alice Ambridge, 15, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. elson Ambridge, E.
Main St., St. Johnsville, fouth oc-
cupan t of th e car , wa s treated by
Dr. Raymon d Wytrwa l a t th e scen e
of th e accident and a t his offic e for
concussio n of th e brain, cuts and
bruise s and shock . Sh e wa s take n
home after treatment.
After the death of Miss Brado,
Dr. Wytrwal notified Dr. Howard
Crosby, croner, of Fultonville,
who began an investigation. Dr.
Crosby said an inquest will be con-
ducted later.
Mrs.. Van Deusen's husband is
employed at the Lindsey Poultry
Farm, where the family lived. It
was learned that Mrs. Van Deusen
was enroute to Gilbertville.
Miss Brado, daughter of William
and Mabel Warren Brado, was
born at Buffalo and the family had
lived in St. Johnsville several years.
She was actice in school clubs,, in-
cluding the Glee Club and the Fu-
ture Auto Drivers Club.
She is survived by her parents,
three brothers,, Edward, George
and William Brado, and a sister,
Hazel Brado.

Police Officer Vernon Flander of
St.. Johnsville,, who made the pre-
liminary investigation of theh acci-
dent, said the occupants of the
car had spent he evening at the
home of one of the girls, and were
enroute to Mindenville,, where Miss

an operator at Lock 16 on the
Barge Canal.
The car left the road near the
West Shore Railroad crossing at
South St. Johnsville, on the south
side of the Mohawk River. Just
across the railroad tracks, the road
forks, the right branch being the
Mindenville road and the left, the
road to Fort Plain.
The driver was quoted as saying
that he was condused in the dene
fog and that he turned to the
right before reaching the fork.
Dies Enroute
Dr. Wytrwal administered emer-
gency treatment. Miss Brado and
Kosenowski and Waskowski were
taken to Little Falls Hospital by
ambulance.
Mrs. Van Deusen died enroute to
an Oneota hospital after her car
struck a tree on the New Berlin-
Morris Road. Dr. J. R. Clerk,,
Morris, administered first aid, the
said Mrs. Van Deusen suffered a
fractured skull and other injuries.
Dr. Norman W. Getman, Oneonta,
Otsego Cunty coroner, gave a ver-
dict of accidental death.

Thomas's Story
Thomas Donald McArthur, 90, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Heartland Rehabilitation Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Thomas and Edna McArthur, and his wife Mary A. Luberti.
Born October 15, 1925, in Lockport, New York is where he was raised with his brother. It was there where he was employed with Bell Aircraft where he worked on Rockets. He then pursued an Engineering Career with General Motors Company with whom he retired.
Thomas served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married his wife Mary in 1953. In 1975 he and his wife moved to Florida.
Throughout his life he had a passion for woodworking which is present in the furniture and items he crafted over the years.
Thomas is survived by his four children; Diana McDaniel, Donald Thomas McArthur, Sue M. Vasquez (Luis), and Lisa A. Hermensen (Michael), and his brother Alex McArthur (Esther). Also surviving Thomas are his three grandchildren; Mac (Lisa) and Brandon McDaniel and Theresa Shaw (Jason), and three Great Grandchildren; Gabrielle, Victoria and Cherish.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016,0 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Chaplain John Boyles officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

George H. Brimmer, 76, of Conneaut and formerly of Daytona Beach, FL and Lockport, NY, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH. He was born September 10, 1941, in Lockport, NY, and was the son of David and Florence (Whitmore) Brimmer.
Following graduation from the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, NY, he worked for several funeral homes in the western New York area, before relocating to Daytona Beach. He was employed at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home in Daytona Beach, FL, for several years and joined the staff at Dudley Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, FL, from which he recently retired. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed Jazz music.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Arter) Bernard Brimmer of Conneaut; two daughters, Mary Beth Greene (Rich Berkowitz) of Conneaut, and Molly (Carl) Kettler of Evanston, IL; his brother, Frederick Brimmer of Lockport, NY; three grandchildren, Alicia Kettler, Theresa Kettler and Garrett Greene; and his sister-in-law, Joan Arter (Kent) Crea of Lockport, NY.

Frederick J. Brimmer passed away April 12, 2023 in Roswell Park Cancer Institute.  Born January 8, 1947 in Lockport he was the son of David L. and Florence M. (Whitmore) Brimmer.  Frederick worked at Harrison Radiator Div of GM where he was a Engineer Technician.  He was an active member of the Medina Senior Center, was an avid card player, enjoyed baking, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.  Frederick was predeceased by his wife Catherine (Vecchione) Brimmer on July 23, 2015.
Frederick is survived by his children, Felicia (Robert) Snyder, Vincent (Suzanne) Dell’Oso, Stephanie (Eric) Kline and Michelle (Lori Davis) Brimmer; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his brother George Brimmer.

Claude F. Wright, Jr., of Youngstown, formerly of Niagara Falls and Lockport, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2015 at the age of 66. He is preceded in death by his father, Claude F. Wright, Sr. in 2001.

After high school, Claude enlisted in the United States Marine Corp serving from 1968 - 1974 and while enlisted, served in Viet Nam where he received many commendations. Upon his return from the service, he worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport until his retirement. Claude enjoyed buying and selling antiques and going to the casino.

Claude is survived by his mother Marilyn (Slater)(Wright) Thompson. He is also survived by two sisters, Lorraine (Lynn) Garver of Lockport, Alicia (Jim) Kroetch of Rockstream, NY; two brothers, Michael (Janice) Wright of Medina, NY, Patrick (Jan) Wright of Bradford, PA; two cousins, Judy Soles of Youngstown and Jan Mazer of Florida. Claude is also survived by several 1st cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Claude will also be sadly missed by his very close friends, Dennis and Judy Bregy.

There will be a Memorial Service at Emmanuel Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport, NY on August 25, at 2 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

(MEDINA)Michael J. Wright, age 64, died January 29, 2021 unexpectedly at his residence following a brief illness. He was born March 5, 1956 in Lockport to George and Marilyn (Slater) Wolcott and had lived in and around this area for all of his life. Michael was a Retiree from Delphi Automotive. He liked to fish, loved to go camping and enjoyed going to Batavia Downs and Seneca Niagara Casino to try his luck with the slot machines. Mr. Wright was predeceased by his brother: Claude Wright. Mark S. Kiekbush of Lockport, NY passed away suddenly on Tuesday October 1, 2019. Born on November 26, 1961 in Lockport and was the son of the late Dale and Sue Slater Kiekbush. He was a supervisor with Mold Tech in Lancaster. An avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, he enjoyed golfing and being in the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife Judith Ann Burdette Kiekbush; father of Benjamin Kiekbush and the late Jeremy (late Rochelle) Kiekbush siblings, Scott Kiekbush, Karen Chadderdon and the late Michelle Drake and several sisters and brothers-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
