    Sharon Morello Obituary

Sharon A. Morello, 80, of Newfane, NY, entered into rest on December 28, 2023, at Mount Saint Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, NY following a brief illness. She was born May 21, 1943, in Lockport, NY, to the late William and Genevieve Murphy. Sharon was a 1961 graduate of Newfane Central School. She worked as a medical secretary for Doctors Oliver, Solis, and Gallego. She took pride in being an active member of St. Brendan’s on the Lake, Newfane parish, and in retirement, dedicated her life to serving the church and God. For decades, Sharon served her parish as Co-Chair of the Bereavement Luncheon Committee, Eucharistic Minister, Faith Formation teacher, and was an active member of the Seven Sisters Apostolate and Senior Group. She will be remembered for directing traffic in silly hats for St. Brendan’s holiday food giveaways and always being willing to don costumes and feed the children during Vacation Bible School.  In recognition of all Sharon had done for St. Brendan's,  she was awarded the St. Joseph's Workmanship award in 2021. Sharon was married to the late John J. Morello in 1966 and they remained married 31, 2012, sharing 46 wonderful years. Together, they opened a pub, established a municipal pipe cleaning business, and began a family with two daughters that eventually gave them five grandchildren. Out of all their successes in life, they were proudest of the family they built together and are dearly missed by the people who loved them most. Sharon is survived by two children; Susan (Michael) Zafrano of Lockport, NY, and Molly (Steven) Williams of Lakewood, NY, and five grandchildren; Bryan Zafrano of Lockport, NY, Adriana (Charles) Baker Jr. of Lewisburg, TN, Caitlin Zafrano of Lockport, NY, Brady Williams of Evansville, IN, and Casey Williams of Lakewood, NY. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Michael A. Murphy. Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 2-6PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan on the Lake Parish Newfane, NY. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Newfane, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to St. Brendan' s on the Lake Vacation Bible School Program would be appreciated by the family.
