Daniel Paul Maerten, 49, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away from cancer on Friday, February 3, 2017, with his loving family at his side. Born January 26, 1968, in North Tonawanda, NY, the son of Gerald P. Maerten of Hinsdale, NY, and the late Audrey Bachman Maerten.
He graduated from Niagara-Wheatfield High School in 1986, received his B.A. from St. Bonaventure University in 1990 and earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from Catholic University Law School in Washington. DC. Professionally, Dan was an attorney with CACI in Rosslyn, VA.
Dan was a member of the Parish Council of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and served in the choir and as a cantor. He was a Knight of Columbus and Committee Chair with Boy Scout Troop 66.
Dan leaves a legacy of love and memories to his cherished wife of 26 years, Patti J. (Tantillo) Maerten; and beloved children, Serafina and Gabriel; his father; and one sister, Debbie Maerten Duchesne of Mint Hill, NC.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home South Berkley Chapel in Inwood, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Private Interment.
