Betty Lou Destino, 88, of Mars Hill, NC passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023 after an extended illness.Betty was born on April 1, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Eileen Weiss. She grew up in Niagara Falls and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Betty worked as a bookkeeper for several years before starting a family.In 1956, Betty married Patsy Destino and went on to have 3 boys, Louis, Thomas and Patrick. Betty loved being a mother to her own boys, as well as everyone else’s. She loved to cook and bake and was happiest in her kitchen. Everyone knew that they were always welcome at the Destino table for a meal, a snack, or a laugh. For the past eight years, Betty lived in western North Carolina with her son, Tom and his family. Betty had a special bond with her daughter-in-law Charlotte who cared for her so lovingly over the last several years. She was Betty’s “gem”. She adored her grandchildren and loved any time she got to spend with them. She was a great storyteller, and a voracious reader of mysteries. She loved her time on the back porch in the sunshine with a good book, her faithful canine companion, Rita, and anyone who would join her. She loved to laugh and always made you smile. She was a “peach”, loved by all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.Betty is survived by her sons Louis and Thomas (Charlotte), five grandchildren, Alex, Anna, Max, Christina, and Jenna, and one great granddaughter Delilah Lou. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Patsy, her son Patrick, brothers Frank and Ronald Weiss, and a sister, Mary Sharrar.The Destino family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Mars Hill Manor for loving Betty so well and to Care Partners Hospice for their wonderful support.Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC., N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday, January 13 from 3 – 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 14 at 10:00 am in St. Peter RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston. (Please Assemble at Church). Obituary of Patrick Destino

Patrick Destino 50, of Phoenix, AZ formerly of Lewiston, NY died suddenly Monday April 22nd, 2019  in the Paradise Valley Hospital  Phoenix, AZ.
 
Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 28, 1968 he was the son of  Betty Lou (Weis) Destino and the late Patsy E. Destino. Patrick graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in 1987.
He was a Machinist, employed by Honeywell. Inc. Patrick was a dedicated and loving father to his daughters.
 
Surviving is his mother Betty Lou of Mars Hill, NC; his daughters Christina Destino of Phoenix, AZ and Jenna Destino of Niagara Falls, NY; his brothers Louis (Deborah) Destino of Zachary, LA and Thomas (Charlotte) Destino of Weaverville, NC, also several nieces and nephews.
 
Family and friends will be received on FRIDAY (May 3)  from 3-7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on SATURDAY (MAY 4) at 1:00 PM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, NY.
Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
