Youngstown woman dies in Fla.
Helene Marie Broeker, 90, a lifelong resident of Youngstown, died Thursday (Oct. 11, 1984) in Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla.
She was born in Buffalo, and was the widow of the late Alfred W. Broeker. They lived on a River Road farm for several decades before she moved to Lehigh Acres, Fla., in 1978.
She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Youngstown, the Youngstown Senior Citizens and the Dorcasaid Society, and a past president of the Youngstown Firemen's Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia (Broeker) Lockmiller, of Lehigh Acres; two granddaughters, Patricia Lockard, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Sharon Lockmiller, of Garden Grove, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held, and she will be buried in Oakland Rural Cemetery on Lake Road in Youngstown, at times to be set later.

William Crewe, a former
city policeman, died Tuesday
(Oct. 1, 1963) in T i c e ,Fla.,
where he had lived since 1951.
He was 74.
Mr, Crewe joined the police
force in 1919 and retired in
1944 after contracting polio.
During many of his years on
the force he worked a beat
around the New York Central
Depot in Falls Street. He also
drove a patrol wagon for several
years.
Former Police Supt. Martin
T. Considine called him the
"neatest man on the force."
He said that Mr. Crewe was
"well liked by everyone he
worked with." Several members
of current police force
remember him and held him
in high regard.
Mr. Crewe left the city in
1951 for Tice, which is a sub-
urb of Fort Myers, Fla. He
had been in a wheelchair since
his polio attack.
In Niagara Falls he was a
member of Epiphany Epis-
copal Church and of Masonic
Lodge No. 132 F&AM.
surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Anna Crewe; a daughter, Mrs.
Marjorie Walker, of this city;
a brother, Rudolph Crewe, of

LOCKPORT — Ronald P. Bates, age 68, of Lewiston, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, while under the loving care of his family and the staff in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport.

Ron was born February 16, 1945 in Lewiston, the son of the late August and Mildred (Hildebrant) Bates. A lifelong resident of Lewiston, he was a 1963 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. Ron was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of Vietnam, serving from October of 1967 to his honorable discharge, with the rank of Sergeant, in February of 1972. On June 16, 1973, he married Margaret (Krulisky) Bates, who predeceased him on March 12, 2008.

He was employed as a Truck Driver by GM Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 30 years. Ron was a member of Lewiston Vol. Fire Co. #1 and Fire Police; the 3-F Conservation Club in Lewiston; and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #584 in Lewiston. He enjoyed archery, camping, woodworking and traveling.

He is survived by a daughter, Heather (Edward) Pierce of Tonawanda; two grandchildren, Caleb and Gavin Pierce; a step-grandson, Anthony Galikowski; a sister, Carol Puisys; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2- 4 and 7-9 PM. 'A two-car collision on Military Road, Town of
Lewiston, killed one person Monday afternoon and
seriously injured two others.
Dead is:
Paul E. Bates, 22, of 4354 Porter Center Road,
Ransomville, who was dead on arrival at Mount
St. Mary's Hospital.
Injured are:
Janice A. Paterson, 20, of 934 Orchard Drive,
Lewistonu originally in serious condition at Mount
St. Mary's. At press time, she was in critical condition.
David Bates, 17, of 4364 Porter Center Road,
Ransomville, originally in serious condition at
Mount St. Mary's. At press time, he was in satisfactory

According to State Trooper Thomas Rash, the
investigating officer, the accident occurred at 2
p.m. Monday on Military Road just north of the
Lewiston Pump-Generating station of the State
Power Authority.
The car driven by the elder Bates brother was
traveling north on Military Road when it crossed
into the southbound lane and collided with the car
driven by Miss Paterson, state police reported.
Bates was born March 26, 1949, in Niagara Falls,
He was a 1969 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High
School and had been working for one year as anassembler
at the tonawanda plant of Chevrolet Division,
General Motors Corp. .
He was the son of the late August Bates and is
survived by his mother, Mrs. Mildred (Hildebrant)
Bates; four brothers, Howard of Green Bay, Wis.;
Charles of Maryville, Calif.; Ronald, serving'in
the armed forces in Japan, and David Bates, at
home, and one sister, Mrs, John (Carol) Puisys of
Niagara Falls.

Obituary of Linda St. Cyr Linda Janice (Crewe) St. Cyr, age 67 years, of the Town of Porter died unexpectedly on November 14, 2015 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Linda, was born April 27, 1948, in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late William H. and Mildred (Buttery) Crewe. Her parents lived in the Barracks housing at Fort Niagara at the time of her birth and she has resided in Niagara County all of her life. On April 27, 1968 she married her husband Robert R. St. Cyr Sr. in Niagara Falls, NY and they made their home in the Porter area, celebrating their 47th year of marriage in April of this year. Linda had attended public schools in both the Lewiston Porter Central & Niagara Falls City School Districts. As a child she worked for several farmers in the area including the Nichols Farm on Route 104, picking fruits along with her parents and after her marriage, with her husband & son. She had also been employed as a Cleaner at the former Fairchild Manor Nursing Home in Lewiston. Upon becoming disabled Linda had attended the Dukes Center on Hyde Park & the Guild Care on Pine Avenue. She loved doing all types of handicraft work. Linda loved being with her family especially her great granddaughter, Faith. She also loved her daily phone talks with her sister Alice and looked forward to seeing her brother Ken ride his moped over to visit with her in good weather. Linda was an avid Bingo player and loved to go fishing with her husband and son. Survivors include her husband Robert "Goober" Roy St Cyr Sr.; her son, Robert Roy (Marcia) St Cyr Jr.; two grandchildren, Robert R. St. Cyr, 3rd & Crystal D. Evelyn J. (Crewe) Gilmer, 63, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Friday May 22, 2015 unexpectedly at Buffalo General Hospital. Born August 4, 1951 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Buttery) Crewe.

Evelyn graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in Niagara Falls, NY. She worked at several local restaurants throughout her life, and most recently at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital for 12 years, until retiring in 2014. Evelyn enjoyed playing bingo, but most importantly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her two children, Cynthia (Danny) Mort of Youngstown, NY and Joseph Gilmer of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandsons, Nicholas Casal and Adam Pike, three great-grandsons, Joseph, Dominick and Aiden Casal. She is also survived by her longtime companion John Stevens; her siblings Gracie (late Pete) Austin, Kenny Crewe, Alice (late Albert) Williams, Linda (Robert) St. Cyr, Russell (Joanne) Crewe, Charles (Linda) Crewe, as well as many, nieces, nephews, cousins and her former in-laws. NIAGARA FALLS — Stephen J. Crewe, age 57, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston, after a long illness. Steve was born on January 27, 1955 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Howard R. and Virginia M. (Guard) Crewe.

He was a 1974 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School and had worked in Maintenance at the land fill for Modern Disposal in Model City, NY. He enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, astrology and reading the Farmer's Almanac.

He is survived by his children, Eric Matthew, Jennifer Marie, and Kenneth Michael; two brothers, Robert (Tina) Crewe of Youngstown and Bruce (Dianne) Crewe, MD of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and his nieces and nephews, Scott H., Kaylee, Robert, Jr. and Alyssa Crewe.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, April 16th at 10:00 AM in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, with the Rev. Michael Zuffoletto officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., WNY Chapter, 315 Alberta Dr., Amherst, NY 14226. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
