She was adored by many and leaves childhood friend, Anita Leo and dear friend, Mary Wilkinson.
Many know Betty as the former president of Riverdale Cemetery and formerly of Holy Trinity Cemetery where she and former husband helped many grieving families cope with their own loss. Never putting her needs before anyone else, she was always ready with a shoulder to cry on, words of encouragement and a reminder that we are not alone. Betty's belief in God and goodness defined her. She will continue to be an inspiration to all who have been blessed to know her.
My mother left me with more than I could ever have given her. She was the epitome of a woman in my eyes and the love of my life. She showed me un-conditional love and unbiased acceptance. My mother left me with many memories, but her final words, she wrote herself.
I don't want control - I will do this myself.
I am who I am, please let me be free to explore my world as I see fit.
Don't walk behind me or in front, but beside me.
Listen to what I am saying and not to what you think you hear.
I want love but don't need a lover.
God, help me to learn more and not be afraid to take the next step.
Show me how to close chapters in my life and not live in the past.
Betty Lowell (McCollum)
