    Ramsay, Dianne Lebrenz

    -

Age 93. Lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, New York. Beloved wife to the late John Charles (Chuck) Ramsay for 68 years. Loving mother to Amy (late Anthony) Ramsay, Susan Ramsay (Daniel), Jack (Katheryn) Ramsay and the late Matthew(Rosemarie) Ramsay; cherished grandmother to five and great-grandmother of ten. She was loved dearly for her laughter, the twinkle in her eye and her steadfast encouragement. Dianne was raised by her parents, Dr. Gerhardt and Beulah (McIntyre) Lebrenz, in the first red brick house built in North Tonawanda. The house was constructed by her grandfather, Dougal McIntyre, a successful carriage maker on the Erie Canal. Boat signal horns and train whistles kept Dianne on time and their sounds always delighted her throughout her life. A 1948 graduate of North Tonawanda High School, Dianne enjoyed life long friendships. She earned a degree in Home Economics at Buffalo State Teachers College where she excelled in chemistry. She was honored to be elected president of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority whose responsibility was to plan banquets and parties for dignitaries. Dianne and her future husband Chuck, were voted Buffalo State's Sweetheart Couple of 1952, a distinction that charmed their many years together. Dianne was an active member of the Esther Circle at the First United Methodist Church where she and Chuck would often serve as greeters. She taught in the City of Tonawanda School System where her husband, an art teacher, would casually drop in on her kindergarten class, sit down and play "Cow Cow Boogie" on the piano. The kids would go wild. Dianne had her hands full. It was there that she met the K-Team ("K" for kindergarten), a talented and energetic group of women with whom Dianne socialized and traveled with up until her passing. Dianne wore a lot of red, spiced up Chuck's chowder when he wasn't looking and had a habit of buying marvelous cars for Chuck with his brother Bill. She traveled to Europe, Morrocco, Mexico, Vancouver and all over the USA. She crafted elegant dresses from European designers, raised all sorts of puppies and played bridge with a bowl of dark chocolate party mix at her side. Dianne always said that she had lived a wonderful life, but the best part of all, she exclaimed, was getting to share that wonderful life with her handsome husband, Charlie. Dianne was truly a beautiful person inside and out and is deeply missed. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Pictures of Dianne's life may be viewed on the Wattengel Funeral Home website. If desired, donations may be made in Dianne's name to: The First United Methodist Church, 65 Main Street, North Tonawanda, NY. Wattengel.Com

NORTH TONAWANDA - Sandra (Sandie) McIntyre Lebrenz Mackey, born in North Tonawanda, New York to Dr. Gerhardt and Beulah McIntyre Lebrenz on June 16, 1938, passed away on April 7, 2013 in Carson City, NV. Her daughter, Roxanne Presswood and longtime partner, Tim Zehnder were by her side. A sister, Dianne Lebrenz Ramsay, who resides in North Tonawanda, also survives Sandra. Sandra, a member of the First United Methodist Church, graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1956 and went on to earn her certification in elementary education from Buffalo State Teachers College. She was awarded a scholarship from Syracuse University from which she graduated with a Masters in Education, suma cum laude. Sandra married and moved to San Jose, CA where she had two children, Roxanne and Scott. She also raised several stepchildren, Doug Jr., Clark, David and SueAnn. Sandra taught elementary school and went on to become an award-winning principal of Milpitas Elementary School where she implemented programs in association with Stanford University. In addition, Sandra was an advocate for Latinos and a fervent supporter and activist for the Women's Rights Movement. After retirement, Sandra moved to Carson City, NV to be close to her daughter, Roxanne; and grandchildren, whom she adored. Happily, she was able to build her dream home, which offered breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was here, while gazing out her windows, that she was constantly amused and entertained with the mountain wildlife that she loved.Sandra will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her. She will be remembered for her strength of character and resolve to fight injustice. But it will be her warmth and charm, with a nod to whimsy, that people will recall.
